I don't need perfection at all, but if we take the current top keepers then how often do Ederson, the snake or Allison have an off game? Very rarely, the mistakes they make 2 or 3 times a season happen every 5 or 6 games with Sanchez.

I see Ederson make a lot of mistakes tbf.

Allison and Courtois are the best GKs on the planet by a considerable distance.

When Palace go down this season I’d quite happily take Dean Henderson over Sanchez.

Outside of the usual suspects I agree with RIP that Kelleher would be an upgrade on Sanchez, as would Martinez from Villa, though getting him would be very unlikely.

Kelleher is possible, Pool already signed Allison's successor, so if he wants to be more than a number 2.

Does he? I can't recall many times that he's cost city points or even goals whereas I can remember a few times Sanchez has cost us, and bare in mind he didn't even play for half of last season because he was dropped

Tbh I'm interested in seeing Jorgensen more before anything, the games he's played in have given me no indication on if he's good or not.

Aye, which leads me to believe he may be average, not standing out one way or another.

Maybe another Petrovic.

Watch any game where City are facing a high pressing team. He's prone to make comical passes. Difference is though that much like Palmer against Brighton, City are capable of mitigating Ederson's errors with their goal scoring.

I think the rest of the calendar year we will get a better idea if Sanchez is the one to stick with.

It's a bit dumbfounding. You can basically expect 2 or 3 similar mistakes each game from him, unfailingly.

Not one of us said Petrovic was a better all round goalkeeper but his net effect on the team due to the confidence he gave his defence that there won't be any moments like that was obvious and very welcome.

He never used to make this many mistakes for Brighton. People weren't looking at him and saying he was a mistake waiting to happen back then. It's not just him either, it's our entire defence. They all keep making basic errors. I do believe our lackadaisical approach has a lot do with it.

It just keep waiting for the day when this is going to stop or show signs of improving, but it never does. We just look so out of it and error prone with this approach.

Simply put, despite any saves he has made, he is not a solid keeper who instils confidence in the defence or fan base. Never feel confident that he is your dependable gk who will earn you x points per season.

For this reason - he needs to be replaced. Slow reactions for the winning goal against liverpool - should have smothered the ball but was slow to love react - probably after the penalty incident. But that's no excuse. He cost us.

Agreed, he has brilliant moments but I still get scared every time the ball is at his feet!

Also agree...posted the bit below in italic in the match thread. My hope is he will learn from that. He NEEDS to learn from his mistakes, he's 26 and yes I understand he's still young in goalkeeper terms but as long as he learns from his mistakes and doesn't repeat them then fine. I just have no solution for his passing with his feet issue which I think is his biggest weakness. Even Jorgensen doesn't fill me with confidence in that regard tbh.

*Liverpool winning goal, sanchez should have saved that but I think he hesitated because of the penalty calls. Even though one was overturned, I can imagine it played on his mind for a sec and hesitated to close him down and go in with full force. (and see another Tom Daley impression. FYI...I gave that jump and dive a 9.6 😆)

It was that hesitation, him thinking about the last two challenges that cost us the goal. He's shown he can save those at least. Ugh, frustrating but again understandable (inexperience) as long as he doesn't let that happen to him again.

Why are we pretending like the rest of his career doesn't exist and only looking at this season? he drops clanger after clanger throughout his entire career.

another game, another clanger.

If he was a race horse, he would have been put down years ago.

Sanchez in goal for this side is a bit like building a F1 car thats as fast as anyone but we cheaped out on the brakes and crash out in the corners.

Nicely put!

Don't think any CFC supporter will feel truly comfortable all the time Sanchez is in goal. You expect at least one howler every game and so it was again yesterday.

He did make some fantastic saves in the Forest game, but that's no good when you cock up as regularly as he does and it's too late for him to change now.

City, Arsenal, Villa, Newcastle, Spurs all have better keepers than us and Liverpool even have two better.

Beggars belief that we have 12 goalkeepers and not one is the right stuff. Sanchez, Jorgensen, Petrovic, Bettinelli, Bergstrom, Kepa, Slonina, Sharman-Lowe, Curd, Campbell, Beach, Penders ...

Surely time to dispense with whoever is making the recruitment decisions in this area ... ?

It says everything that Kepa is probably still our best keeper LOL.
