May 28, 20242 yr Dorde Petrovic has been named in Serbia's 26-man squad for the European Championships. He has been a good keeper for us this season. Especially considering the clowns in our defence.

He's was one of the big reasons we had such a poor defensive record.
May 28, 20242 yr Probably can make a profit if we sell him on now. His footwork does not suit Marescas style.

There'll be some ridiculous stat that says the xGCniIE (expected goals conceded not including individual errors) was only -0.13 whereas some 17 year old Peruvian that plays part times is only -0.09 or some bollocks Edited May 29, 20242 yr by Ukraine Bolt
May 29, 20242 yr Author We don't have one keeper that suits Maresca's football. Sanchez has the cojones for the passes but not the skills. Petrovic needs to find a new club.
May 29, 20242 yr Petrovic is fine, it’s his long ball distribution that isn’t ideal. As far as passing in short build up/under press he’s more than OK.

Big call that Sconnie. Think you're a bit off there, which is unlike you. Where have you seen Petrovic comfortable with the ball under a press.

I can actually see a GK being the first recruit he makes. In fact it wouldn't surprise me in the least if he went back to Leicester for Hermansen. Possibly with us even offering one ours the other way, either as a permanent or a loan as a sweetener.

May 30, 20242 yr Problem with these keepers that play with their feet is that they aren’t consistent at their main job. Ederson is incredible because he can do it all but the fake version are awful. Just look at Onana. Basic errors.

I agree with Sconnie on this, he was more than able to handle passing the ball about for us last season, we looked a hell of a lot more comfortable when he played over Sanchez (though I understand just how low a bar that is ha ha). You could even see in the other players how more trusting they were of him to pass back to.

May 30, 20242 yr If the manager wants a new keeper I think we should go out and make sure we get a really good one and not look to save money. Would send out Petrovic on loan to develop him and allow for him to make mistakes with less pressure and keep Sanchez as a number 2. Keeping Petrovic on the bench with a new keeper will just slow down his development which is probably not the case for Sanchez.

You could even see in the other players how more trusting they were of him to pass back to. I don't disagree, but i think that this guy is still looking for another level. He wants a frustrated outfield player as a keeper, who is capable of fundamentally forming part of his defensive line. Even when we use our keeper, unless we are passing out from a goal kick, it has normally been as a back stop, a return to base and start again. Sanchez can do this but he doesn't have the speed of thought between touches and lacks appreciation of the diminishing space around him. Ergo, numerous howlers. Similarly Kepa is okay providing there is no real press or traps being set. For Petrovic it has been less of an issue because he rarely allows the space around him to diminish as he passes it on quite quickly. This is still releasing the ball though, rather than forming part of a pattern of play. I have seen clips of Maresca's Leicester with Hermansen on the ball and he is not even the most defensively positioned player, he is that integrated into the back line.
