Djordje Petrovic signs for Chelsea

He cost what, 11mill? Santos was something around 14mill?

I would expect, after both have had good seasons in France, we could sell them for a good profit each.

For me, this is where it will be become very evident what the owners plans are going forward.

Any sensible owner would see the performances and potential and ensure they're integrated into the XI as swiftly as possible. If we sell them this summer or even January without ever giving them a proper chance then its clear we'll never be a serious club again.

Did I just hear you say "profit"?

This is the risk. We have a player who the coach has already looked at and deemed not good enough to keep around, and now his stock is high, there will be some profit there.

I fear the same for Santos.

It's the model working perfectly, as intended.

Maybe next we can get Paez and Penders out there, get their values up.

Another decision our former manager got right. Anyone with a pair of eyes could see the improvement defensively with this guy between the sticks last season... The people running the club just dont have eyes.

Funnily enough if he wasn't already our player we'd be trying to sign him.

All I keep hearing about is how well Petrovic is doing at Strasbourg. He might not be Cech or Courtois but 99% of Chelsea Supporters saw a decent enough keeper when he played last season and the pick of the bunch, so why oh why did he go out on loan and we are left with Sanchez and the other bloke? Whoever is responsible for these sort of decisions really shouldn't be in a job anymore. It's f**king criminal.

Just another case of someone getting better and better by comparison the longer they are away. Happens with all our injured players as well. He was nothing special when he played last season.

goalkeepers dont have to be special, they just got to do the basics. Petrovic did them better than Sanchez last season and Sanchez is our number one this season and statistically is better than the pair we have used this season.

It doesnt matter, thanks to the owners we're not a serious club anymore and the players and manager couldnt give a toss either... They all know they'll be sold, get better deals elsewhere and or be paid off millions of quid.

If we were a serious club, we wouldnt have sold our best midfielder last summer, to make way for a player the manager clearly didnt want and helped line the shareholder's pockets.

Courtesy of BBC/Nazar Kinsella :

Serbia international Djordje Petrovic was sent to RC Strasbourg on loan in August due to concerns about his ability to play out from the back as manager Enzo Maresca increased those demands on his goalkeepers.

Playing under English manager Liam Rosenior in Ligue 1 was sold to an initially reluctant Petrovic as a way of improving those ball-playing skills.

Sources at Strasbourg and close to Petrovic believe the loan move has been productive and allowed him to develop his footwork, which was lacking following spells at MLS with New England Revolution and in Serbian football.

It has set up the chance for Petrovic to either return to Chelsea or possibly move to another big club, with sources close to the keeper believing £25m could be a possible valuation, although it could also potentially be high enough to deter suitors.

UK-based agency Unique Sports Group have poached Petrovic from his long-time agent ahead of the summer negotiations that will decide his future.

Smacks of a club briefing to me LOL.

TLDR: Expect a Petrovic sale !

Why does Maresca think Sanchez is so good with his feet? He kicks the ball to the opposition 42.5% of the time. Petrovic is a very good young keeper.

Totally agree.

There is literally no evidence to back up that Sanchez is good with his feet.

Stats and even the old fashion eye test prove it is a myth.

Potter kicked out Aussie keeper Mat Ryan because he wasn't good with his feet. Due to injury/form Sanchez got the call up, he was the 5th choice at Brighton when promoted to the first team. Potter hailed how much better Sanchez was with his feet.

Then De Zerbi came in and punted him, openly criticising Sanchez for how poor he was on the ball.

Then, we signed him!

The idea that Sanchez is great on the ball is a myth, he was replaced in Brighton because he is not good on the ball.

However is he better than Petrovic? Maresca want to use his gk as +1 to receive the ball in build up. This is a very specific stuff so manager will do some drill and they can easily asses whether the gk is comfortable or not. If you are not comfortable, you won't play under Maresca, it is pretty straight forward.

Last year under Poch was different. Poch ran a very generic setup pretty much everywhere, different gk no problem, false 9 no problem, palmer 10/rw, heck we even had mudryk as 10.
