Anyone know the latest on our young American keeper, Slonina? I know he's not even 20 yet, but I heard such rave reviews about him, without having seen him play. Would be great if we have a top keeper for the next decade and the other three can all fight for being No.2.

Slonina is first choice for a relegation threatened side in Belgium. They've conceded roughly 2 goals per game. I don't know what his performances have been like though.

He looked pretty good at the start but now it looks like he just blended in with the rest, not the first nor the last judging how things go, unless something changes in the training ground.

He's making a mistake in every game now. I would say it's time to switch up, but then again... It's Sanchez...

Well with Sanchez there's potential for error in his passing, saves and his aimless swings off corners that can all lead to goals. Petrovic we only have to worry about his saves so lesser of two evils.

It is a sorry state of affairs, but Kepa would be our first choice at the moment.

Most of the goals we concede are not the keepers fault, he is left exposed by a sham of a defense. Do we need a better keeper? Sure, but Petrovic is not why we are leaking goals like the Titanic.

Speaking after the game he spoke of his disappointment, but emphasized the needn't refocus on the league as we have a chance to make Europe either in the Europa league or Champions League!

I think he meant to say conference league, least I hope he did.

We are 16 points behind 4th placed Villa, but with 2 games in hand. Plus we do have to play them still. So I suppose in theory we could get within 7 points by that logic. I like his ambitious target if that is the case. But even if we won our last 7 games including Villa (which I don't think anybody believes we will), we could still only get a maximum 68 points and Villa would likely get more than that at this point.

Would also be the small matter of also overtaking Spurs, United and Newcastle as well.

He has dropped a few clingers this season .. would be nice for him to have a worldie once in a while too.. right now everything that supposed to go in .. goes in and a few additional ones .. can’t remember a performance where he saves us..

He's not really among the best this season but it would have been a miracle if he were all things considered.

Definitely has a weakness at his near post 

As every game goes on it becomes more and more clear while Poch didn't even play him in the League Cup vs Blackburn.

He's a good option to have as a number 2, but not good enough as a number 1. 

No better than Kepa or Sanchez, apart from not doing regular bozo misplace passes.

He's a good number 2, but if you play him every week against good teams his weakness will ( and are ) showing. Can we afford an expensive GK? I doubt it when we have another 2 expensive number 2 GK on the book. Kepa had a year on loan and did almost nothing, it's really difficult to loan out a number 2 GK and expect games and the eventual transfer.

For all the Kepa backers and I still see some on here.. it’s damning to see how he couldn’t even get a game over the reserve keeper at Madrid.. 

I still can’t believe we paid 70 mil for that guy no matter how desperate we were.. A world class fee. How we wasted that Mou team by signing him Baka and whole lot of average players..

Kepa hasn't been bad for Real Madrid this season. He's actually been way above average (save percentage 75.7%, and conceded 2 less than the expected goals), but Lunin has simply been even better (save percentage 79.3%, conceded 5 less than expected). Lunin is actually the top GK in La Liga on save percentage, and Kepa is 4th. Lunin is 2nd on the expected goals, and Kepa is 6th. 

Kepa certainly compares very well to Petrovic's 64.1% save percentage and conceding 7.5 more than expected ... (literally worst in the PL out of all the keepers that have played 10+ games this season). Djorde is unfortunately way way down on the stats we saw for him in the MLS.

I for one am shocked that the goalkeepers who have faced the highest number of shots on target against have also tended to make the most saves.

I would imagine that a fair amount of context would have to be taken into account here. I would imagine that there are far more crosses made in English football than in Spain and a lot more aerial threat. Kepa's biggest failings were his height and judgement of high balls and his command in coming for crosses and corners. He never was bad as a reflex shot stopper although anything from beyond 20 yards seemed to bamboozle him as well. Maybe they don't shoot much from outside the box eitherl!
