They say surgery is not needed, but if it's not needed then he needs to play more. So many players are in and out of the squad, it's impossible to gain any momentum. You can play well in one game and find yourself on the bench in the next one. It's the same with James. He's constantly under protection apparently, but we can't have him playing one game and then missing the next one or only playing 20 minutes. We need him on the pitch. CB's chopping and changing every game too. No balance in this squad, it's just throwing a bunch of players together and hoping it sticks. I want to see Palmer and Estevao playing 90 minutes together most weeks, but it's never happening. Every other club manages it, but not us. We need to keep playing our dogsh*t players to keep their market value up apparently.

I would say this is much more to do with his groin injury than Jackson not being on the pitch. Edited February 5Feb 5 by Scott Harris

I remember reading that the groin strain is not something surgery would definitely help with, and it just needs rest.

Which, touch wood, seems to have worked so far this season.

February 6Feb 6 Just talked to another mate of mine who played Uni footy. He basically confirmed what many of us already assumed. (He had a sports hernia surgery years back). Groin issues take months, sometimes years to overcome naturally. So for a professional footballer, to simply sit down and do nothing for 12+ months in hopes to not aggravate the injury is an impossibility. Palmer wants to play in the World Cup. I think based on the evidence its clear he's told the medical staff and they are managing his minutes + pain tolerance. The good news is, like Enzo, if he gets the surgery in the summer after the world cup, he should be back just at the tail end of preseason.

However the current Cole Palmer is miles off the pace.Morgan Rogers, Phil Foden, Jude Bellingham (If they push him further forward to accommodate Rice + Andersen/Wharton) are all ahead of him.Maybe, admitting defeat, writing off this season and come back the player he was for a full season next is the best option.

So long as he gets the surgery days after England's WC journey then its fine. He'll be back at the tail end of preseason.

We fans got carried because of his exploits off the bench for England. He has been average when he has started for England. As things stand, I don’t think he makes the team. If he does he is going as an option of the bench.

So they will go the conservative method and rest him every other week.
February 6Feb 6 I don't think the way he is playing this season he will make the World Cup squad ,very sad

February 7Feb 7 Said he'd get a hatrick in the next two three games ago... Well done that man getting back among the goals.
February 7Feb 7 1 hour ago, Sconnie Blue said:Sigh…The problem is, how is he supposed to get back to himself? It's not going to happen this season, not this late, it will ruin any chance he has to get into that world cup squad. If he does go to the world cup, then what? straight back into next season and struggle again? The reality of modern football's fixture congestion really hits most when players are injured, they can't seem to find a window to recover.Palmer seems to have multiple injuries from what I have seen, groin and thigh, I can't see how he's going to find time to recover. He really should have just not returned for pre-season, he should have took a few months off and tried to return in November or December.
