Oh well , at least we won't have a low block to worry about

You get to watch that football at thr Bridge next Sunday. Every cloud.

No he hasn’t. I can specifically pick out errors that led to goals because of him since last spring.

Agree to disagree on that one then mate.

In any case father time is catching up and we will need to replace him sooner than later.

1. Widely stepped out of position against West Ham for their 2nd goal.

2. Deer caught in headlights for Forest's winner.

3. Miss-controlled the ball in a dangerous area which led to Villa's counter and their winner.

4. At fault for Burnley's goal (admittedly a collective backline issue but if he's starting because he's an experienced player he should be criticized awful defending).

5. Leaving Akanji wide open for his goal where City levelled it at 2-2

6. No where to be found for Haaland's 2nd goal to make it 3-2.

7. Error that Joelinton capitalized on for Newcastle to make it 3-1

8. Not closing down with Badiashile for Gordon to make it 4-1.

An error every 1.6 matches. This is where I disagree with the notion he's been excellent. This from our most experienced player who doesn't galvanize us or lead us. He's part of the problem and if it is a wider issue than it needs to be fixed, with Silva out of the XI or not.

For me, he needs to be out of the XI.

Silva may need to be dropped, but to state he doesn't galvanize our squad is blaming one person not to be able to pull an entire squad out of the quicksand. Nobody can perform a miracle like that, let's be real.

It just screams the state of our squad really, which was my main point vs blaming Silva soely.

Our manager is in the stands for indecent, our captain is being a petulant child by carelessly getting sent off and our most senior player is averaging a goal leading error every other game.

These are the people who are supposed to galvanize the squad but instead they are doing the opposite. The rest of the team are mirroring their actions.

Not going to go through all these items but the Gordon goal was on Badiashile in my opinion. He should have pushed Gordon outside, but allowed him to cut inside and shoot on his favored right foot. Was poor defending. Also for the Akanji goal I am pretty sure it was either Conor or Enzo who were supposed to be marking him?

Silva at fault as well. Didn't do enough to close him down with Badiashile.  It was as if he wasn't anticipating Gordon to cut into his right at all based on his mosey effort to close him.

Silva as well as Gallagher at fault for Akanji's goal. Both allowed freely into space for him to score that header. Given Silva's experience I am going to hold him accountable but goals like these are what we have been conceding all season which makes it a coaching issue.

If Gusto is not available and, having thought on it, I would not mind seeing a few faces we have not seen of late.

Petrovic (Sanchez has let in 8 in 2 games so why not?)

Disasi

Badiashile

Colwill

Maatsen

Lesley

Lavia (Gallagher if Lavia cannot play)

Madueke

Palmer

Mudryk

Nkunku (Broja if Nkunku cannot start)

Colwill offers far more when we have the ball than badiashile.

Would be the first time Poch has changed the whole back line

Honestly, this is probably one of the best times to be playing Brighton, however would have thought same with Newcastle and their injuries/suspensions and look how that turned out, however Brighton probably have the lengthiest injury list in the league and most of them are key players. March, Estupinan, Enciso, Dunk, Dahoud, Fati, Milner, Welbeck, Lamptey, Webster, Mitoma and Igor. That is a crazy list. There is a slight chance Mitoma may make our game but most of those players listed are either injured or suspended and they also have a game in Europe on Thursday in a crucial Europa league game and knowing their luck they may will pick up another injury.

Either way, with those players unavailable and us having a whole week to prepare and them having an away game Thursday night, we should be winning this and comfortably too.

I would like to see Palmer as the CAM, with Mudryk and Sterling as our wingers.

Trying to come up with an average set pieces defensive plan with this personel will be a nightmare.

Bob I disagree. However there are two problems (1) Gusto likely isn't really fit and that will mean pushing Disasi out to right back where Mitoma potentially could run round him very easily and (2) Poch won't pick it.

I do think Jackson could do more in aerial defence in the way that Drogba used to. Leave the fast break attack to Mudryck and Sterling.

For me Disasi Colwill Caicedo and Jackson can provide the strength in the penalty area to defend set pieces with Gusto and Maatsen covering the post areas and the others chasing the second ball.
