Sterling has done nothing to warrant starting this game.

I have no problems with Sterling starting but my issue is why not give him a run of games to play himself into form leading into the City game.

Unless he was expecting Noni to have performed better?

Is this guy ever going to be fit enough to start playing regularly?

He is fit though; Poch just doesn’t know where to play him. A while back when he started him against Crystal Palace as a “10”, he hooked him and said we were missing Palmer in that position. He has never played him in that role again, preferring to play him as a lone forward where he is awful.
Some fans have argued long term he will use as a LW, but I can’t see it, and I reckon he is behind Sterling & Jackson in that role.

Is he the first player to ever underperform against a youngster in his home stadium?

Underperform is one thing. Getting pocketed by a 19 year old and having that same 19 year old score against you whilst collecting 325kpw is another.

People can be rightly disappointed seeing Sterling start based on recent form.

He wasn’t pocketed this is hyperbole. If that’s the case the entire team was pocketed by Liverpool.

Oh he was well beyond pocketed. So much so he was forced to the other side the 2nd half. I was embarrassed for him. He’s our highest earner by a considerable amount.

It is disheartening that Poch continues to refuse starting our marquee signing and best attacker in Nkunku. Be it fitness issues (which will be forgiven) or him not knowing how to use him, which wouldn’t at all be surprising given his inability to properly utilize either Enzo or Caicedo.

Very disappointing to see Nkunku on the bench again. We need him badly at the start of the game, not when we’re already a goal or two down.

Didn’t want to see Sterling but him starting was to be expected tbf.

Pretty pumped for this one, come on Blues!

I'm trying to figure out if how we play tonight has any bearing on how we'll play next weekend. Probably not City and Liverpool pose different challenges - maybe we'll be trying to be very disciplined in defence and without the ball. We'll need to do those things well next week.

4-1 city can see us getting hammered today. Hope I’m wrong and we actually go for it from the start but either way city are a much better team then us so getting anything from the game will be a bonus . Why is sterling starting when he’s been crap and no nukuku
