Well, i was going to say the same in response to @bluelightening 's initial post but then i saw this

We all know the joke about one swallow and all that, and i also feel that performances like this actually edge him closer to the exit door for Blueco, rather than bring him nearer the group, but on the night you can't fault him for doing his job adequately against the opposition that we had. Its more a comment on why so many others failed to match or better these stats.

The better he plays the more his value increases, the more likely he'll be moved on. Is that what you're getting at because that's our business recipe for success under the owners.

Im not expecting him to be a world beater, but if he is comparable to Ganacho or Gittens then I'd rather have George in the side and I think he'll be a more than decent player for us or club he plays for. Anyone writing him, Gittens off after so few matches must have a crystal ball and soothsaying ability I'd gladly pay for.

I think both Gittens and George come good, both have connections to the club but jumping on the back of really young men isnt going to help them.

Something odd is going on regardless, George is getting minutes as a striker.. I dont get it, not just withe George but with the squad and players we're signing and letting go.

I presume both watches tell you the correct time ? Actually I'm not a watch collector or anything, but I read the book about the search for an accurate timepiece to enable the correct calculation of longitude at sea and it was fascinating. At the same time I thought I would find out how a sextant enabled seafarers to work out their position. All I can say is , what an ingenious piece of equipment and what a bastard to use !

If a £100m player is contributes 20 goals per season, then it might not be a bad calculation to spend £80m on 2 players who can realistically contribute 10 each whilst also allowing more flexibility, cover and options.

We've already got a player who only cost £32m and contributed 10 and above in 2 seasons.

He's coming back to Chelsea when his loan is up.

I think George getting the gametime he did up till now shows that Maresca did in fact have control over the team as I'm pretty sure he was the only one who rated him.

I don't think that's true. With the way the owners and SDs call the shots, it could only have been a club decision to promote him to the first team squad (together with Acheampong)

So they called the shots to have him sold to Fulham, when that failed they forced Maresca to play him over the many options we had available? Did they also force Maresca to play him striker?

How come Josh didn't get the same treatment?

Point is if they didn't rate George, would he have been added to the first team squad ?

I think Maresca played him at striker to make a point to the sporting directors about his lack of decent striker options.

George will do a good job for someone, which is why Fulham were interested in the summer. No idea why Clearlake pulled the plug on that transfer ... it looks like a bad decision all round in hindsight. I imagine he'll be sold this month, or in the summer. He's a "pure profit" player, and we know the motivation and precedent for what happens to those with these owners. Probably happen to Reece James at some point too ....

Clearlake didn't pull the plug. Fulham did. They had George lined up to replace Harry Wilson if Leeds came for him. That didn't happen so George was no longer needed.

Bet Fulham are glad they kept Wilson and also signed Kevin. Both look a lot better than George.

It's not exactly as if Josh has been getting tons of minutes either, but maybe they consider he has ultimately got less competition at centre back than Tyrique has at left wing, plus a higher ceiling, and hence isn't on the sale list (yet) ?

Honestly, I think Marescaa's tactics have had a lot to do with the attacking players at the club. Palmer was prolific before he was crowbarred into the side and injured.

Strikers played 6ft under the bridge pitch and wingers with boots of treacle under the Italian.

Will defend George while he's at the club because I don't think we've really seen him given a decent chance in his best position. If you could have the summer again, who would you have signed? Garnacho, Gittens or kept Madueke? Is George better or worse than Quenda or whoever the wizz kid is arriving in the summer? George in the Portuguese league would light it up as Gittens did in the Bundesliga, is my take, given how much weaker it is...

Hope he survives a possible January cull.
