Tyrique George

I feel for him, because he is nowhere near good enough for us, selling him to Fulham for £22m would have been the best sale under the new owners but every time he plays his value must plummet.

The move to Fulham collapsing was certainly unfortunate for all (except maybe Fulham) and I really can't understand why, having accepted he is very far from good enough to compete as a top 6 player, we are persisting with him. And doing so out of position. It is doing nobody any favours.

I have never claimed George is the standard we need only that Gittens and Garnacho are hardly that either and spending that money on someone who clearly is better would have been the better way especially if the manager is picking George over them😠

The whole situation, throw in Madueke looking good is a cock up.

Tbh I feel sorry for him.

I’m pretty sure he knows he’s not good enough for us, and I also suspect that he knows he’s being dragged into middle of a war between Maresca and the owners.

It’s not a decent thing to do really. He should have joined Fulham.

Have nothing but respect for the lad. He’s kept his head down and focused on the football, despite all the noise at the club, his near transfer, being playing out of position. Credit where it’s due.

I don’t know what the long term holds but based on what we’ve seen the last 10 days at this circus of a club, I have no issue with George getting more minutes he if plays with this kind of professionalism.

Nice goal tonight.

Dragged us through last night and saved Maresca's bacon. Play him in his best position and let the lad develop. I know lots on here want him out the door, favouring our new shiny 100 million pound pair saying they have a higher ceiling and potential, but the club didnt need to spend that cash this summer and im glad he stuck around and his move to fulham collapsed.

Potential this and that - folks should simply say well done George. great stuff from him.

Was very quiet outside of the 2 key moments but not entirely his fault.

Who played well? Who excelled for 90 mins?

Why was it easier to post a negative comment about his performance over something positive? Scored one, made one... what else are you expecting outside of influencing the result of a cup game or is it because it wasnt one of the 100 million bros.

This is an overly defensive post for a comment that doesn’t warrant it.

I didn’t even post about any other player as they were all terrible.

Fact I posted about George means I appreciate what he did as end of day goals and assists are all that matter and I even said it wasn’t entirely his fault.

Well done to George, what a goal! And not a worse performance than either Garnacho or Gittens.

Hardly surprising mate. Those two are the Jorgensens of outfield players.

Not really defensive, for a Chelsea grad, he's got a ton of stick from posters here because he's not a 60 million pound player, your post comes across negatively as it puts the emphasis on everything outside the 2 "key moments" ie "quiet outside" of the game-winning moments that sent the club through.

sh*t, did you see that to quote alan partridge. https://www.skysports.com/football/video/12606/13436928/powerful-tyrique-george-strike-pulls-chelsea-level

Georges goal was a fantastic hit. No doubt about it. If he ever hits another like that in his career he will be fortunate. The "assist" - and credit where credit is due because technically he did get an assist - but if we are all honest, it was a simple stabbed 2 yrd pass to a player with loads of defenders around him.

We all want George to be a brilliant player for us. This nonsense about wanting him to fail, or not supporting him because he isnt a shiny new toy is a load of lazy tosh. Most on here are not optimistic about Gittens or Garnacho. Most hated Jackson. Most wanted Nkunku gone. Many wanted Madueke gone. None of those were/are youth products.

But these kids dont get a free pass just because they were Chelsea youth players. Gilchrist was adored on here, but most could see he wasnt Chelsea quality in the long term. James is adored on here, and we saw from the start he was different gravy. If the yoof are good enough, we should celebrate them, and when we can see they are not good enough, then we should wish them well, and move them on. I believe that is the case for evil Saka, and 1 wonder hit and a 2 yrd pass doesnt change that.

Spot on mate. If Gittens had scored that goal, the player, the owners, sporting directors etc etc would have been praised to the high heavens on here along with the " plan is working" adulation. And if George had made the pass that £100m+ Fernandez made that led to their goal , it would have have been proof positive that he's not good enough for us .

George is only 19. He's playing out of position.

Maybe support the lad and write something positive instead of writing him off . You , and no one else can predict how he will turn out yet .

Btw he also got us out of jail against Fulham last season. And what's the "evil saka" thing about? is this another one of your concocted insults for a young Chelsea lad ??

A projection of goal contributions can NOT be forecast by a fanciful mathematical calculation based on transfer fees in the way that you posted. . . Using your logic a £200m player would get us 40 goals a season .

The senior squad gave him the “insulting” name - in a nod to how he is the sad/sullen doppelgänger of “the penalty missing one”. …

Unfortunately there’s a point of diminishing returns.

A £30k JLC watch in precious metal, with a hand finished movement, is a better watch than a mass produced £8000 stainless steel Rolex.

….but a £60k Patek also in precious metal and also with a hand finished movement isn’t getting you a significantly better or more refined watch - and certainly not double the JLC.

I know a little about watches particularly certain brands and your comments about the market aren't accurate. I don't propose to take this thread off topic, however your comments about Tyrique and goals are interesting.
