August 21, 20241 yr Let's just give the guy a chance, he's not going to get everything right and is learning & developing himself as a coach. Arteta was hardly a success to begin with, and now Arsenal are challenging.

Enzo's, so far, been the mouthpiece they want. I agree it is only tested when he is in a tough spot. I think poch started out ok, no complaints etc. Loosing to city with so many caviats is one thing, but if by the time we play liverpool on October 19th we arn't hovering around the top 4 area it's hard to believe he will continue to put his own neck on the line with out apportioning blame

He doesn't say I love this or that player. Maybe he knows he is just the head coach. Club buys players whatever he says. Naturally they ask whether the player is suited for him but other than that he "improves players he has" and everything else is someone else's problem. Pochettino for example commented on players as he was asked. He is old school. Maybe this is what the club needs. Just a coach. Think your answered yourself at the end. He's hired as a coach, just train players and not much more. The predecessors were managers, who had their say and all got kicked . It probably suits him for now, just stay out of the 'politics' side of CFC

Basically he's likely to go along with whatever the Directors decide on without any complaints. Obviously there are always exceptions like Conte LOL.

Your theory is an extrapolation based on a massive generalisation, which, after nearly 20 years in Italy, I can assure you is simplistic in the extreme. Let me add another, arguably more accurate generalisation: the "Latin temperament" can be a trigger for combustion. The reality is more that Maresca was hired on the strict understanding that he coached rather than managed. The management is the remit of the owners and Siegfried & Roy. A situation Poch didn't accept, hence his exit.

Thanks for your patronising reply though. Edited August 21, 20241 yr by Sexyfootball
August 21, 20241 yr Don't think it was a patronising response, he just gave you his experience from living with Italians for two decades.

August 21, 20241 yr I was totally against his appointment and from a sporting level obviously the jury is still out. I do however, think he speaks with incredible honesty, and is blunt. I actually love that, he stands his ground, he defends his position well. I hope he doesn't get the sarri treatment from the match going fans, as he is the type of character I think suits the club in general, and with the fans onside, it could be a really good match.
August 21, 20241 yr Watched the presser, I actually really like him. Media constantly trying to bait him with the usual massive squad critique and pressing on raheem and conor. Thought he dealt with it well, albeit I don't think he really has any choice other than to be brutally honest, given that the decisions being made are brutal. He's going to ruffle a few feathers this year but its probably going to be what we need, given the current agenda against everything we do

Early days, but I think he's already in my top three of Chelsea managers/coaches for how articulate he is in interviews and how he handles the media. Right up there with Tuchel and Mourinho for me. August 21, 20241 yr Yeah his demeanor is great, just what you want from a manager. Hopefully the football follows suit and we have great success with him. Time will tell.

Pochettino was maybe too familiar with the press room, which is understandable with how long he has been in England. Maresca isn't trying to be anyone's friend, he is assertive, knows what he wants, defends the club, and his principles.

His answers in that presser were excellent, the kind that will annoy them, which is just lovely.

He really does need to get a tune out of these players though so here's hoping. I do think Neto, Felix, KDH, Tosin, are signings made by the club for him. Think he's being backed so will have to see how he gets on.

August 21, 20241 yr He spoke very well and if his coaching is as solid as his media interviews then he’ll do absolutely fine. It might be good for the players to have a bit of fear towards Maresca similar to Jose or TT. The way he’s spoken to each player he doesn’t want then been clear what he said with the media might have our first team squad looking over their shoulders which for the first 6 months or so is no bad thing imo
