August 27, 2025Aug 27 Only saw Estevao 2 or 3 times at LW and it was clear to me at least that he is ineffective there. Similar to Palmer.
August 27, 2025Aug 27 Thought Neto had a really strong game against West ham. Started on the left, finished on the right as I saw it. I'd be starting him on the left again. Estevao really needs protection this season and would be my replacement for Palmer who starts on the right. Having said that, Maresca doesnt like Palmer destroying teams on the right and prefers him through the middle... where Pedro was quietly excellent. Lovely headache for Maresca to have and will probably find a way to overcomplicate it.

He's not hit the high levels consistently enough for him to nail the spot down though.

August 28, 2025Aug 28 Im hoping this is the season he kicks on for us. Think he's done well in the two games so far, looks as though he's stepped up the intensity to his game. 5 hours ago, Scott Harris said:I've always said I prefer Neto on the left. August 28, 2025Aug 28 I think Gittens lack of impact could leave him miffed compared to impact of say Estevao. The potential arrival of a new player should spur him on to stake his claim on a starting place or at least a valuable squad member.
August 28, 2025Aug 28 Its a long season and we've hardly seen Gittens yet. I think the signing was stupid for the money we spent on him but he's got plenty of time to settle and adjust to the team.
September 14, 2025Sep 14 A bit of a worry, when an excitable puppy is the most reliable family member. Perhaps doing him a disservice - and I do like Neto - but at the moment, it feels like he is our senior main man when Palmer isnt around, and he simply doesnt produce enough to live up to expectation.Fast and direct - but frustrating and think he has a lack of vision (although to be fair, robbed of an assist yesterday when Palmer missed a sitter).
September 17, 2025Sep 17 Wrong thread Edited September 17, 2025Sep 17 by Scott Harris too many Pedro's in this team XD

He was constantly on his heels.I also though that, once again, Maresca's tactics hindered him. Had too much work to do on the half way line, but that's not his game. He's better in attacking areas, dragging defenders out of the way.Do you mean Neto or Jao?

September 17, 2025Sep 17 He's OK. He tries hard. Decent squad option for sure. But isn't genuine quality like Olise, Eze, Diaz, Kudus etc. No way should he be an "untouchable", "starts every week" player.
September 17, 2025Sep 17 Great little player. Can be frustrating at times but has a great attitude and I’d say the opposition hate playing against him.

Look at the quality Olise shows and compare it to Neto, the difference is night and day. Neto doesn't create enough and he doesn't score enough, he just runs around a lot.

Since he's been with us, he has put in a few MOTM performances, but if asked his main attribute you would have to say - lot of effort / never stops running. When you play top sides like we did last night, effort isn't enough, you need a bit more than that and Neto sadly falls short.

If Neto was the floor for quality in our wingers, rather than the ceiling, we'd be a much better team.Diaz was almost anonymous in the first half but it felt like that almost allowed Olise to take the reins, and had enough quality to take advantage of the opportunities he got in the second half.
September 18, 2025Sep 18 But he commands lower wages than most class wingers you've mentioned above, so we win in the accountancy books...

September 18, 2025Sep 18 If estevao was a few years in to his stay with us, then Neto would be a good back up.He is not top level, I doubt he ever will be. As @RMH put forward though getting such top players to agree to start at lower wage levels and then maybe get bumped up, is difficult. You have to get them before they truly explode on to the scene, and have to take the time to develop them. The ownership are happy with this way of things.
October 4, 2025Oct 4 One thing that is barely talked about Neto is that he is 25. He is basically at his peak.
