I would never wish I'll against any of our players but if Fofana is out now again for a prolonged period it might work in our favour and make them go into the market for an elite CB. I am not even convinced that a fit Fofana is enough for what we need to partner Colwill but it certainly isn't any of the others.

I wouldn’t wish an injury on any of OUR players, but that or a suspension is the only way we will get rid of Sanchez

Despite the fact that I don't rate him I must say the after Colwill, Badiashile has been our best performing CB. He's currently holding for me.

I remember Colwill saying last season that there was no reason why they couldn't be a centre back partnership, despite both being left footed. I think Colwill might quite like playing with Benoit !

The players might as well play away from home every game,the supporters are terrible, no atmosphere, compare that to Liverpool, i hate them but fair play  to them, they cheer anything and everything and thats why we wont win the league

Really good team performance today with everyone playing their part and Cucurella and Caicedo both putting in 10/10 performances.

Although we had a few tricky moments, it is nice to brush aside a team like Villa with relative ease.

It's his spatial awareness that has caused issues before. Hopefully his confidence remains high for a while.

But they play at a high tempo. So do spuds. You can't expect a raucous atmosphere from the fans with the centre half is stood on the ball waiting for a baited press before passing.

As good as we have been this season, the pace of Liverpool matches is incomparable to us.

Thought Cucurella was phenomenal again, Palmer quiet but still produced that moment of magic what a player

Didn't watch though just seen youtube highlights thought we would win and some good goals.

That first goal where Cucurella robs their player made me think it was a free-kick still no complaints though Cucu's cross deflected towards Nico who finished it nicely.

The next two goals were class with Fernandez trapping with his left and striking with his right, nice and Palmer hits a Zola-esque type of strike to settle it.

Did we really commit 21 fouls as the Beeb says?

why stick to one team and tactic? I love that Maresca is addressing each opponent differently. The next team we play may need us to switch to 2x 10s? I don't know. But that's what I really love about Maresca. Tactics and game play can't/shouldn't be fixed. All depends on who we are facing.

Yep, im with you too, some great positives in this game, I loved it. But dissecting the negatives and stuff we did poorly it can all be marked down as inexperience from a young team and tbh that doesn't actually upset me.

I don't mind them making mistakes in a way, as long as they learn from them and they don't cost us dearly. But i think it's part of our game atm as they gain that experience and consistency. Soon we will be up there with those 3, just not this season, but definitely on the right track atm.

Muppet Rory Jennings has a video claiming Arsenal are back yet nothing on today’s victory. Because that would imply the sporting directors were right about Maresca and their signings.

That for me was a brilliant performance.
We brushed aside a Villa side who are no mugs, we just made them look it !!
We pressed well, went forward well, and barring one or two moments defended well to, Caceido is the next Essien for us, just awesome in the heart of that midfield.
Unlike some on here i think the Fofana injury is a blow to us, he may not be the most powerful defender but he is lightning quick and reads the game well.
Only slight downer is once again Martinez, we can't win the league with him as keeper (i don't think) other than that we are looking like a proper team that no one will want to play.
PS. i think a few of us on here need to eat some humble pie, i was on Jacksons back all last season after the penalty fiasco, but he has proved me wrong along with quite a few others, who have been very negative .

Football is all about views and opinions, mine is clearly different to yours, although ultimately we both want the same thing…someone who scores for us.

I understand but Jackson doesn’t get nearly enough credit the guys 23 his second season in the PL, he’s scored 8 out of 13 games with 3 assists, he’s on for 23 goals if he keeps this pace. 
 

How many top class striker class flops have we brought in, he’s one of the best strikers in the PL and he’s got bags of room to grow, I’ve always seen something in him and I think we should back him not over look him.

Yep, if there was any area where we really lack talent in depth it is at CB.  I like Wes and Levil.  Very Quick ball playing CBs.   Other than that we have a very basic Tosin - but he was free and so we're okay with that AND then we have the very expensive and just not quite good enough French duo - Disasi and Baddy.  IF Reece was fit, then maybe he could cover at CB?  Could Lavia play there? Could we call the Argentinian wonder kid CB on loan early?

I think in the summer we should try to get Martinez from Villa. As a Sanchez replacement. Or Oblak.
