To think around the time of the CWC we'd bought Delap who yes is a wait and see but most of us like what we see, Joao Pedro who I knew was quality and had hit the ground running, Estevao who is all the hype, and a Linked with Gittens which yeah isn't mega but the odd youngster comes with the territory of Chelsea fandom now. All in all we were having a pretty good transfer window with more attacking options hinted at, all very exciting going in to the new season now with the title of World Champions.

Fast forward to the last week of the window and we finish with the underwhelming duo of Alejandro Garnacho and Facundo Buonanotte. f**k me Queda better be magnificent.

When you remember we have Paez it just makes it all the more silly.

How are we watching Rio at Liverpool, and still deciding to bring a 20 year old in as back up. Just use the academy. George, Dyer, Rak-Sahki, Kavuma-McQueen. What is the point of loaning a player that is no better than the academy. Brighton clearly dont think he is ready for them.

We have one the world's top academies, this is the sort of short term deal that should never be happening.

This is due to the uefa sanctions I believe. Under PSR we're in no danger whatsoever but under the uefa sanctions we have we needed to sell a certain amount and have enough wage space to be able to register our new players this season. Sales of players that weren't in our 'A team' (ie players we had loaned out) in the conference league last season didn't count towards the uefa squad budget, so the sales of Veiga, Carney, Petrovic, Ugochukwu etc made no difference under the UEFA rules. So it's not so much us not being financially secure, it's to abide by uefa's arbitrary rules around player registration.

Which is down to the SD's and the owners that gave them the job. We could have avoided that fine easily had we not wasted so much money on poor quality players. Fans have been patting these people on the back for all of these sales, but they were forced into it, they've basically just been cleaning up the mess they made. They don't deserve a pat on the back for that, they need to clean up the mess and then f**k off.

I'm not gonna turn this thread into yet another owner/SD chat because most of these do and it becomes annoying. Either way, I'm gutted we missed out on Simons, but any talk of financial problems just isn't true.

It is though, we are restricted financially because of that UEFA charge. We had to raise funds to bring in Garnacho and Simons. We got the funds to bring Garnacho in from the Nkunku deal, we couldn't do it with Simons because we can't shift Jackson.

Feels like we’ve sold KDH to make space for the next KDH.

We will happily pay £50m for potential who wasn’t getting game time at Dortmand but won’t pay a little bit more for a star player at RB with international experience.

I’m baffled.

If we sign him it will be "Goodnight" for us.

Plus I believe he'll be our first Facundo.

But that's not 'financial issues' it's abiding by some sh*tty made up rules uefa have implemented. Financial issues imply that we are in some sort of trouble with possibly bankruptcy, which obviously isn't the case.

It was for exceeding the player wages ratio thing. . Everyone else avoided it, apart from one another club (?). That's put us in further restrictions imposed by EUFA as part of the punishment.. It was easily avoided, especially as our owners " know what they're doing" financially.

I'm not too sure on sanctions/numbers, I was listening to a podcast that had Matt Law on earlier in the week and he just gave a little breakdown on why we needed to get rid of a couple of players like Nkunku/Jackson as for some reason the non conference league 'team A' players didn't count towards our budget.

All rules are made up, us and a handful of clubs broke those rules. The SD's and owners knew they existed, but took a high risk gamble, now we have financial restrictions placed against us. That is a financial issue. We're not going bankrupt, but nobody said anything like that, but this is the main reason why we couldn't sign Simons.

Yet these morons were gaslighting Jackson for 70m, the same Jackson who Chelsea would listen for offers for since the CWC yet here we are today, what 3 days from the close and despite the stool water habitually propelling forth from the likes of Romano, Law and Jacobs there hasn't been a single official bid for.

If Buonanotte on a loan is the alternative to Simons then that suggests that we don’t have the books balanced enough to go and get Simons or any high fee player.

They assumed Jackson will get sold permanently as well which hasn’t happpend
