Good deal for Alex. Lot better than QPR. I have a feeling we will face PSG in the CL and will see Alex's freekick from the "wrong" point of view. Hope it doesn't go in that time.
I always liked Alex and thought he played too little.
Good luck Alex!

My kind of "traditional" centre-back. A defender first and foremost.
No wandering off out of position halfway up the pitch. No jumping in for half-arsed interceptions that you're not favourite to win. Tight marking of opposing players at set-pieces rather than standing three yards off marking thin air.
Alright, he didn't have any real pace but IMO his positioning was generally spot on and so he rarely got exposed. Whenever he had a run of games he was consistent. Plus chipped in with valuable goals. So all told a very decent player who could, IMO, still do a job for us.
Really sorry to see him go.

Have to say I'm a little disappointed he didn't come back to Santos. But he obviously feels he has another big European club left in him. He probably will come back Brazil eventually. PSG have som fantastic players and Alex will be playing beside the best young defender in world. The great Mamadou Sakho

Good luck Alex - it's a shame such a fine servant to the club had such an acrimonious departure. Hope to see you bossing it at the back for Carlo in the Champions League some time soon...

Agree with every single word. And when he did get a run of games his play reminded me of Paul McGrath, another proper centre half. Very sad he's gone.

Does anyone know if he played this morning?

Well said just. He was a purists CB and didnt screw around in filling that role. Big, strong, and direct. Those thunderbolt FKs were just an awesome bonus to a fantastic player.
I am not the biggest fan of the way he was iced out of the squad, but at the same time I understand the rationale from the manager and the club. We dont know how he reacted when he heard that he was no longer first choice or fast enough to play in the system. And he was off to a bad start this year before getting benched.
Best of luck Alex. Hope we meet him and PSG in the 2013 CL final.

Didnt play today, Spiller. Maybe it was just a bit too soon or not everything has been formalized just yet.
But as it was pointed out elsewhere, with Sakho and Lugano established as the top pairing, he wont just be walking into that team.

Alex has more talent in his left testicle than Diego Lugano. Mainly because Alex isn't a c**t.

You're never going to get over the grudge against Uruguay are you?

Shame, not a bad defender just needed more games. At least he didn't go to QPR. Good luck Alex!
