dkw Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 Very difficult this one for me as no-one really stood out for enough of the game for me. Went for PVA as I thought he did the most to impress from the young uns, though Josh was very mature and intelligent in his play and Studge impressed other than his final decision on the ball.
Mod Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 The kids done well, but not going to pick one just for the sake of it. Malouda, clear man of the match for me.
motorhead Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 voted sturridge but close with van aanholt
Englishman Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 Malouda as he had a good game and ultimately saved the day.
Chippy Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 I'd like to see Van Aanholt get a bit more playing time, I think he has learned a lot from Ash and looks a really good prospect, I think he just shades MOM for me from Malouda who although blowing a bit hot and cold did look like an experienced player helping the kids step up. Hard game to estimate players in and one I'd have expected Kakuta to be really up for...not the case this time but a valuable 45 Minutes for the boy anyway. Kalou slaters again need to eat their words as he came on and looked dangerous maybe even player of the second half, Sturidge looked lively as always and that was a good run out for him. Mceachran made some mistakes but has something a bit special and looks like he feels like a first team player, very confident and non plussed by making a mistake, nice to see Carlo bring him off to a bit of an ovation ( ooh ah missus). I was fairly content with that and happy to see no heads dropping when we went one behind after the failure to get anything at Birmingham. Nice to see Anelka battling for the ball all over the place like he was one of the youngsters when he came on.
aliboy66 Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 Considering we made 6 changes this was not bad performance .Looked a bit nervous at the start but once they got going it was good, for me Sturiidge stood out today looked lively and sharp his only downfall is he tries to score all the time when sometimes would be better if he passed the ball
Sheva Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 PVA and Malouda for me. When they linked up they looked dangerous, must be a hair thing.
Ruh Buh Juh Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 PVA for me too, thought he was brilliant today, learnt a lot from Ash aswell!! Malouda and Sturridge joint 2nd, Josh 3rd.
The Brit Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 sturridge for me...the only one who looked dangerous in both halfs...van aanholt looks good, but still needs to work on the defensive side of his game...mceachran gave the ball away a few times, but what was so impressive is he didn't hide or sulk about it...he demanded the ball again and again.
mad_mac Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 Mikel. joking. I went for PVA. Thought he had a great game. Closely followed by Sturridge and Malouda.
PloKoon13 Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 Mikel. Git :P I went for Malouda, solid again in centre mid and got on the scoresheet.
BigIzz Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 I picked Kalou. I thought he had a real impact on the match when he came on in the key period where we got the equalizer. I could understand why he wouldn't be picked because of his limited time of good play but he seemed to make the difference for me today.
ThunderDan Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 Malouda foe me, MOTM because of the score and his calmness on the pitch, coolly dominating his side. Ivanovic and Van Aanholt deserve a mention.
Tim W Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 Had to be Paulo he guided the youngsters through a tough test
Nibs Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 No-One really stood out. In the first half I was disappointed with the senior players and unfortunately Kakuta failed to impess again. Thought PVA had a very decent game and was unlucky not to score. Sturridge showed why he deserves to start more games. He might overdo it at times but boy he has quick feet and e is totally unpredictable. Had to go for McEachran though. He might have been unspectacular, but still a very decent debut. Bar a few wayward passes, he kept the play flowing ALL the time. Was always looking for the forward pass and it was noticeable how the senior players were giving him the ball and letting him make the decisions. Not bad for a 17 year old!
Ben Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 PVA, Malouda & Kalou stood out for me. Went for PVA. Thought all the younger players did ok though.

I think that speaks volumes as to how well though of he is by the players and coaching staff.
BlueBeard Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 van Aanholt for me, had a great game. That said, there were quite a few good performances out there - Studga, Josh, Malouda, & Kalou.

You can rest easy again now Nibs, you've got a replacement for Joey to champion :P I voted Kalou because it was his introduction that changed the game for us. Like you, I was disappointed by Kakuta. I thought Josh did well (very well for a 17 year old, but that shouldn't really matter) but not sure he was MoTM. I still think he would be better further forward though.

Playing deep, especially on his full debut, he was never going to try anything too risky so his game was pretty restricted. I also feel he is far too slight of build to be able to play that holding role at the moment. But perhaps it was right for last night. Playing where he did meant he saw a lot of the ball and we could all see that he's not one to hide and was alays ready to recieve it. Can't see him starting against Newcastle but I would start with Sturridge.
saran75 Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 again work comp preventing me from voting---i'll go with Kalou, totally changed the speed of the game and urgency...outstanding pieces of dribbling (just wish at times he knew what he was gonna do with it) as said before Kalou haters still gonna hate him but he does this so often---just wish Kakuta would take note and take on a few players... nice to see senior players give the ball so often to Josh (no need for the Gerard passes of 7o-8o yards just keep it simple)
