Who knows who has had the best window, your'e just guessing, that will only be known later on months or years down the line when you look back.

Plenty of players look good on paper and fail, off the top of my head Veron is a prime example, whilst other less marquee signings come in and surpass expectations, again off the top of my head Suarez, when he came to the prem it was more or less under the radar.

City seem to be in the same position as Chelsea though, they're strengthening attack and midfield but i'm not impressed by their defense at all. Average full back options and Kompany always injured in the middle. The signing of Stones (when it happens) isn't going to sort too much out immediately.

City have had the best window so far IMO.

Sane is a fantastic prospect who is far more talented than the likes of Sterling so it's an upgrade.

Gundogen (sp) if fit will be a big player for them too as he was the best midfielder in the Bundusliga for a few seasons just gone by.

Stones (when not if now) I fell will flourish under Pep and playing with the likes of Kompany will just improve him further. The fee is ridiculous yes but the talent is there.

Nolito will add to their attack and will be a very high standard player to come in when needed.

Exactly. I remember when people were saying Tottenham made the best signings when they got that money for Bale, Eriksen was the only one that was actually any good. Paulinho, Chadli, Soldado, Capoue, Chiriches, Lamela ( still hit and miss now ), all sh*t.

Who said that? lol

All I remember is Tottenham getting heavy slated for spending the Bale money on rubbish.

At the start of the season, pundits, fans and people on here were saying Tottenham had spent their money well. They soon changed their minds though when they realised just how average these players were.

Fully agree. They need serious upgrades in defensive positions, but instead at buying Nolito, Sane, Gabriel Jesus, Gundogan, Zinchenko and Moreno... partially save for Gundogan all attacking players. Looks like they intend to sport a defence with the likes of Mangala or Kolarov...

We're in exactly the same position, but at least we seem to be linked to defenders (not so much full backs which is the primary need).

Overall with all these massive signings by Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man United, not to mention Leicester, Tottenham and West Ham obviously with ambitions who knows what will happen next season...

Interesting point. They have a great mix of technically gifted, quick, intricate players up front and in midfield, but their fullbacks/CBs don't strike me as Guardiola-types.

Clichy aside, Kolarov, Zabaletta, Sagna aren't as technical, quick and agile as he'd like... Otamendi/Mangala aren't the greatest ball-playing CBs either, and Kompany seems to be on the downhill.

Compared to his past defences of Alaba, Boateng, Lahm, Martinez, Alvez, Pique, Puyol, Abidal to name a few, I don't think it'll be an easy season for Pep/City defensively.

David Ornstein reporting this rumour, and he's very reliable with arsenal/EPL stuff apparently. If we can't get koulibaly then surely this guy is needed at all costs. Valencia asking for about 40 million euros. arsenal haven't bid, so we need to not dither on this.

#AFC interested in signing Valencia defender Mustafi. No bid yet + others inc #CFC keen. Also want a striker but not pursuing Mahrez/Draxler

City just signed Gabriel Jesus. i envy them tbh, they really are strengthening

ofc it was to be expected with Pep at the helm

Based on today's game - it was money badly spent.

Based on today's game: I would love if we bought Rivaldo Coetzee. Outshined Marquinhos in the battle of the U23 defenders.

I hope we are not interested in Mustafi at all to be honest. Valencia's defence is crap and he is part of that defence, i don't see how he would improve ours.

Well, to be fair, Terry, Zouma and Azpilicueta were part of our defence last season and it was very poor. Doesn't neccessarily mean they're bad defenders.

He was also part of Germanys defence and they aren't a bad side.

I thought Boateng and Hummels started ahead of him in many games for the German team. Never seen him play, So cant comment that much, but if it is going to be 40 million for him or Kalidou then I want Kalidou.

but Koulibaly probably cost more than 40 mill so...

as i see it right now Mustafi is our only option. and i don't think we actually need to splash 40 mill for him

either way, we need to act fast. opening fixture is next week ffs
