May 24, 201214 yr Have heard on a couple of rumour sites that we are signing Milner. Yes or No guys?? Think he could be a half decent signing, and is English and can play on the wing and in the centre whether he is the type of player we need? well i wouldnt mind it to have him as a squad player. but if its true that ess and malouda are staying then i dont see the point. we are just piling up squad players in the middle (essien, romeu, malouda, some youngsters coming in . . .)
May 24, 201214 yr No to Milner, Johnson could be a quality signing from them. Totally agree, would love to have Johnson at the club.
May 24, 201214 yr i to would love johnson at the club. There are alot of ifs and buts though, first off if we sign hulk and hazard we will have Marin on the bench as a winger so would johnson want to leave one place where he struggles to another? I would prefer hazard and johnson with mata in the middle more natural width although it isnt likely. so although he would add options i think milner is the better option if we get the players, ie 2 of hulk hazard lucas, were after as hes a better squad player I would love milner especially if essien leaves. If essien does go that leaves ramires mikel lamps and meireles. milner is better in my opinion to meireles on 4 counts, better player versatile homegrown and role model. I would love milner here for the right price

May 24, 201214 yr Signing Milner to replace Kalou as a versatile and solid wide man isn't a bad idea. Obviously he's nowhere near as cool but he's probably a better player.

May 24, 201214 yr Saw earlier that Pablo Aimar is looking likely to leave Benfica this summer. I know he's in this 30's but he's still such a fantastic player, would be great to keep an eye on him if we fail to land our primary targets. I very much like that idea. Its in the mold of bringing Deco or Benayoun here late in their careers as utility playmakers. But unlike the above two I already like Aimar. Considering what he showed against us in the knockouts, I would say he still has something in the tank.
May 24, 201214 yr Signing Milner to replace Kalou as a versatile and solid wide man isn't a bad idea. Obviously he's nowhere near as cool but he's probably a better player. Milners strength is alos his weakness for him unfortunately. He makes a great squad player as he`s so versatile and can play in may positions, which also means he will never make himself a certainty to start in one specific position. Saying that, I would be open to signing him as a squad player.

I think he would make one hell of a DM if he was told to play there.
May 24, 201214 yr Why waste money on Milner when the real target should be Adam Johnson? We'd be doing Citeh a favor, taking a player they don't need off their hands and settling for less than we should.

May 24, 201214 yr Doumbia and Ramires together on the same field, too much pace for most teams to handle. I definitely wouldn't mind us getting this guy, though I don't think he'd be deployed as a classic CF for us.

I definitely wouldn't mind us getting this guy, though I don't think he'd be deployed as a classic CF for us. I reckon he'd be the new Kalou, mostly a wide player who can play in the middle if need be. It all depends on the price for me. From what I've seen, he's got fantastic pace, is a good dribbler, decent passer but he dives a lot and can be muscled off the ball easily.
May 25, 201214 yr Apparantly Us and City are after Maicon, load of bs to be fair, hes 31 in an aging Inter team. Ivanovic is solid and if/when Bossy goes i dont mind us bringing someone in but Sam Hutchinson/Todd Kane can do us a job there.

We'd be doing Citeh a favor, taking a player they don't need off their hands and settling for less than we should. It's about a squad filled with options. Different situations need different players. Lets say we're a goal up against Man Utd with 20 minutes to go, would you look to bring on Johnson or Milner? Someone who will most likely lose the ball trying to beat a player too many and won't track back or a player who will fight for every inch. If it's to be believed that we're close to signing Hulk and maybe Hazard (thus spake Star), Milner would be a better complement to our current squad than Johnson would. With Marin we already have a squad player capable of something special, beating a man and fighting for a first team spot. With Milner we'll have someone offering something different in the squad. Ramires on one side and Milner on the other and Hulk/Torres central would allow us to win another few games like how we beat Barca and Bayern, Johnson wouldn't offer us the same options. It's a squad game, not just a team game any more.

Buying an English player from within the Prem isn't cost effective. If we're to do so, I'd rather go after Johnson who seems a much better bet to justify the price we'd pay than Milner.

I don't really rate Johnson as highly as others seem to. He's ok and he's tricky but much of what is said about him can be said about Kalou except for one important thing that Kalou has and that's a work rate. It's fair to say Johnson has a better end product and is more likely to beat a man but he's also more likely to try and beat another straight after. I just don't think Johnson is the right choice for the squad, I'd say that you're right that Milner might not be cost effective, but to be honest none of us have any real idea as to how much they'd want for him.
May 25, 201214 yr Not sure why you're pigeonholing him as a winger, he gets played out on the wing due to his versatility but he's a CM, has been known to drop back into the fullback position for City too. I rate him highly, my MOTM for the 6-1.
