June 22, 201214 yr So plenty of rumours around we have all but signed Higuain, which would surprise me as I though Jose wanted to keep him. Be a very good signing though, could see him scoring loads of goals in the prem. Thats an odd one on so many levels.
June 23, 201214 yr Chelsea in race to sign Diego Godin. Likely he is a centre back and 26, I have not seen or heard much of him, maybe a good player, but honestly, do we need him? http://dailystar.co.uk/football/view/258174/Manchester-City-join-Chelsea-in-race-for-Diego-Godin/ Edited June 23, 201214 yr by Normal9ja
June 23, 201214 yr Our priority should be signing a RW player. Edited June 23, 201214 yr by Normal9ja

We have 4 very capable centre backs and the only defender we may need is a right back back-up.

June 23, 201214 yr Seriously? From where? He would kill most PL-defenders. Great player. I think it might have been a load of rubbish unfortunately, I saw it on a few forums but couldnt find anything substantial anywhere else. Soz.
June 23, 201214 yr I'm skeptical towards Higuain. He was operated for a possible career threatening back injury two years ago, and still struggles with his fitness (he never lasts 90 full minutes, even in La Liga). But, he is a natural goalscorer and will likely score loads, but only if we build the team around him. However, the transfer to us is not likely at all. Edited June 23, 201214 yr by Ozztheboss
June 23, 201214 yr Them selling Higuain to us was based on Jose wanting Aguero, if he gets Aguero he will sell us Higuain. Was all over the Spanish press a while ago. However, we all know it's extremely unlikely Aguero will leave so this is all moot.
June 23, 201214 yr We were in for Godin 2 years ago, but then we got Luiz. I seriously doubt we are in for him again, just lazy journalism probably.
June 25, 201214 yr Malouda to Fluminese is being talked about now. We've apparently offered him to the Brazilian side, as his wife is Brazilian and he has said he wouldn't mind living there apparently. Would be nice if this goes through, loved him a couple seasons ago but his quality has been on the decline for some time now.
June 25, 201214 yr Malouda actually had a great euro with France. I was impressed with his overall contribution to the french cause and now won't mind him here for another year as strictly a squad player with meierless.
June 25, 201214 yr Best to get rid now while we can still get a fee. He will go for free next season.
June 25, 201214 yr Tbh he always has been good for France, so don't really see his good performances a reason to keep him. Plus his complete laziness to track back for Alonso's goal was despicable. Think we should say goodbye.
June 25, 201214 yr Now it's rumours that Malouda told his France teammates that he's off to Vasco de Gama in Brazil to play with Juninho.
June 25, 201214 yr In my opinion Malouda's still a useful player. If you look over the whole season, he scored and assisted a fair few goals. Well worth keeping.
June 25, 201214 yr According to Talksport.co.uk, Meireles is a transfer target for Napoli. The story although it's a rumor, seems to have some acumen. I don't know what I feel right now, happy or a 'no no'. Meireles has gotten a lot of stick from us over the season, buh, I still think we need him as a squad player. He's a hardworking player and run his arse off anytime he's on the pitch. Most times he's been sh*t, but, if the deal goes through, I'll wish him the best, anyway.
June 25, 201214 yr I like Meireles too and think he is a useful squad player, but if Napoli come in with a serious offer, we'd have to seriously entertain it, especially if we're buying a CM or wish to put more faith in Josh/KDB/Romeu, etc.
June 25, 201214 yr Wouldnt mind Malouda leaving, Seems there might be something behind this talk. Not sure about Meireles, He's got amazing stamina but i just dont think he will play much.

Edited June 25, 201214 yr by Lane
June 25, 201214 yr He put in a decent shift against Barcelona. He's one of those players who could come in as a reaplcement for the first choice midfielders, who could start a handful of games here and there, but would really only be a squad player. So the question is, do we want squad players like that? or would we prefer having that space available for a youngster, e.g a Romeu or a Josh (baring in mind when we did that under Carlo we had too little strength in depth and had to go out and spend £70m in Jan). Personally I feel at the moment we would have enough strength in depth to let a few more go. I think a squad along the lines of this, would be perfectly capable of competing on most fronts: Cech, Courtois, Hilario Cole, Bertrand Terry, Luiz Cahill, (Ivan can cover this as well) Ivanovic, (New RB), Kane/Hutchinson Mikel, Romeu Ramires, McEachran Lampard, De Bruyne, Piazon Mata, Marin, Kakuta (Give him 6 months and see how he does) Hazard, Sturridge Torres, (Sturridge here as well), Feruz (Carling Cup/Fa Cup) I would argue attacking-wise we're pretty set, we've got some quality ball players like Mata and Hazard. We've got pace and trickery and something different in Marin and Sturridge. Hopefully Torres will rediscover some scoring form, but Sturridge can also do well up top. Central midfield is maybe a little weak... Ramires top quality, Lampard still very good but surely can't play every game any more.. Essien is probably never going to be the same player again and Mikel/Romeu divide opinions. So I could see us springing for another quality CM, probably a box-to-box type, not specialising in defence or attack in particular, then we could let people like Merieles and Essien go. The only position I feel we have to strengthen is RB. Ivan is great but he is sometimes needed to fill in at CB and when that occurs or he's out for whatever reason, we can';t be relying on Ferreria any more, we need someone who can come in and do something a bit different (A Bosingwa-type...fast..but you know....better). SO I can easily see us competing no problem even if we let the following go: Turnbull Ferreria Bosingwa - Already done Malouda Kalou - Already done? Merieles and/or Essien (depending on whether we sign a CM or not) With just a RB and possibly a CM coming in. ST depends really on how Torres does up till Janurary. If he's still struggling, then enough will be enough, we can't expect to win anything if our striker can't score. So I'd say start the season with Torres as the main man, but replace him if he still can't hit a cow's arse with a banjo by Janurary time. Edited June 25, 201214 yr by Zeta Orionis
June 25, 201214 yr He put in a decent shift against Barcelona. i cant the remember the 1st leg, but at the camp nou hes directly at fault for both of their goals
June 25, 201214 yr i cant the remember the 1st leg, but at the camp nou hes directly at fault for both of their goals Directly at fault for both goals? That is quite harsh don't you think?
June 25, 201214 yr Directly at fault for both goals? That is quite harsh don't you think? First one I don't think he was to blame, second one he definitely was, he's the one who gave the ball away, two passes later it was in the back of our net. Other than that he did put in a superb shift in the second half. I won't be sad to see him go, but I feel like he is a good squad player, but shouldn't be in contention for a starting place.
