I wouldn't say sucks, but he is certainly not good enough. He put in some very respectable performances in our champions league run and nobody can take that away from him, but going forward he should probably move on. If it is so, then fair play to him for what he has done for us this season and what he helped us achieve.

He is doing a very solid job for Portugal at the moment in the Euro's but I really wouldn't mind if he left Chelsea. We have not grown to like him and he is nothing special. Maybe I expected more of him before he came and I've never rated him on the level he is.

8 million wouldnt be a bad return. Also getting him off the wage bill would be good with the new players coming in.

The story although it's a rumor, seems to have some acumen.

Meireles has gotten a lot of stick from us over the season, buh, I still think we need him as a squad player.

He's a hardworking player and run his arse off anytime he's on the pitch. Most times he's been sh*t, but, if the deal goes through, I'll wish him the best, anyway.

Can see why they are interested, he would really strengthen them actually.

But yeah, not going to lose any sleep over this. He's been poor for quite some years now, no idea what happened to him. Shame as he used to be class at Porto.

First one I don't think he was to blame, second one he definitely was, he's the one who gave the ball away, two passes later it was in the back of our net. Other than that he did put in a superb shift in the second half. I won't be sad to see him go, but I feel like he is a good squad player, but shouldn't be in contention for a starting place.

he was just dreadful for the first goal, that was a complete brain fart from him. he tries to close down alves but ends up making a mess of it, he gets caught out in no mans land and alves is free to make a simple pass to cuenca

if the nou camp game counts as good performance from him then im even more against him staying at chlesea than i was before

Agreed, he was a big player for us in that 2nd leg....although i thought the yellow card came right near the end (so prob didnt have much bearing on the performance)?

I don't mind Raoul Moateles as a squad player, definitely not a starter though. If we can get over our money back on him I'd sell him.

I guess it depends on squad spaces. Keep him if there is enough room.

Very happy for Essien to stay, see how he does with a good rest and a proper pre-season under his belt.

Meireles, Malouda and Benayoun can go, and it sounds like they will, which if true proves we're going in the right direction, in terms of squad strengthening. Those guys just aren't good enough. Nothing against them at all but if we were never to see them play for Chelsea again, would we be bothered? The answer is "non".

I think Meireles is underrated for us. does a lot of good stuff and hard graft.

Have to say Essien should be gone first I think he is done for.

Meireles was outstanding for Portugal last night, and has been very good for them all tournament. He was used in a different way by them to the way we play him, maybe we RDM should take note.

We can't utilize Meireles in the same way he was at Liverpool/Portugal/Under AVB. He's a box-to-box midfielder but it doesn't work in a system with two pivots and there are also better CMs ahead of him.

That being said, I'd like to keep him as he still has something to offer to our side and is a very good squad player and the players I'd be looking to get rid of at the start of this transfer window are Malouda, Essien and Yossi.

Why do people want to get rid of Essien? He's come back from a serious injury, he's going to look rusty as he hasn't even kicked a ball in like a year. Started off really poorly but you could see he got slightly better with each game.

Not to mention we wouldn't get any good offers for him, probably no more than £10m-15m. And that's just being optimistic. Worst case scenario is that he doesn't get back to his old self but still makes a good backup/rotation player. If we sold him and he went back to being his old self (Obviously not the same but close to his old self) I would be gutted and that's something I can see happening.

God I hope we don't sign Pereria. We really don't need him. I thought we'd seen the end of that rumour when AVB left...so hopefully it's just lazy journalism.

He's not shown anything close enough to justifying why he should stay at the club. I was willing to give him time before passing my judgement on him but enough time has passed for him to play himself into the team post injury and he's been pure sh*t. He doesn't offer anything more to our team that the other CMs at the club can't so he's basically become irrelevant, which is tragic as he used to be a beast and feared but he is definitely a shadow of himself and it's painful to watch him play - he can't run, he can't pass, he can't shoot and isn't as physical as he once was.
