Blatter became a convert to goal-line technology after Frank Lampard was denied a legitimate goal in England's 2010 World Cup defeat to Germany.

That failed to convince UEFA president Michel Platini - the favourite to succeed Blatter as the most powerful man in world football - who remained wedded to his belief additional assistant referees behind each goal was the best way forward.

Two things:

1. Just the thought of Platini as the most powerful man in world football makes me scared and sick. Horrible thought.

2. I think the EURO 2012 showed just how useless the additional assistant referees is. Did they help the ref? Hardly. But they managed to get decisions wrong.

And to spread the next competition around the entire of Europe rather than having 1 or 2 hosts, meaning fans have to buy thousands of pounds worth of plane tickets and hotel bookings and ponce back and forth across the continent, just to see their team play.

We are allegedly interested in Luke Shaw, almost 17 year old LB from Southampton and are planning a bid of 4m. Never seen or heard of him, but you have to figure Ash won't be around much longer, and this guy would probably be loaned out to gain experience so that he could backup Bertrand when the time is right.

Or maybe it's all bollocks.

Ace,

saw this on Sky Sports news earlier, seemingly we are one of a few clubs interested but Southampton are saying that he's not going anywhere - standard response.

one thing for sure is Southampton do seem to attract a lot of attention to their young stars.

Saw this earlier, a very tenuous link with Gaston Ramirez.

Now, I've never seen him play, but have heard good things about him. But maybe we should be looking into him due to his name? Defenders would be talking to each other and be like "Who are you defending?" and the other guy would go "Ramires" and the first guy would go "Which one?" and in that time span we would have scored 5 times already.

Something to think about.

Seems liverpool are well in for Ramirez. Would have thought he would have been a good signing though. Can play across the front 3 and can beat a man.

Another tenuous link, this time to Josip Ilicic. Says we've been tracking him for awhile, and Palermo just rejected an offer from a different PL club. Palermo are not in the CL next year, so he could force a move. The guy seems like a great player, but his best position seems to be behind the striker, ie where Hazard and Mata will be lining up, so not much in this unless he can play RW. If he can though, he would definitely be someone to look at.

Just saw this tweeted, not sure if the source is a good one.

Nour Agha (@NourAgha)

It used to be fantasy talk, but things have changed now. When Roman speaks personally to Bastian Schweinsteiger giving him assurances, and the representatives place a good offer on the table and assure him he'll have a main role in Chelsea's new project which will carry on for years to come and will be Europe's brightest, having the chance to play with players like Hazard and Mata, and a chance to join Marin, and being the main and central figure in Chelsea's midfield, while offering him a change, in London, and, ultimately, a new challenge, he'll consider it and would most likely take it - loyalty not in question here, if you look at Frank Lampard, for example. Bayern would happily hold on to Toni Kroos for years to come and sign a young replacement for Schweinsteiger, and it probably is harder to lure Kroos away from Bayern than Schweinsteiger. Schweinsteiger to Chelsea? Why not? It's possible, and it can happen.

Funny you bring this up Amputechture,i read something earlier, where someone who has tweeted a few moves

that have come to happen, and says McVilla will move and Schweinsteiger will happen,i don't somehow believe

that will happen.

:laugh2: I didnt even realise that was who you meant. I like McVilla better.

He sounds like a brilliant centre forward or a new brand of chocolate biscuits, either way it gets my vote.

Check this out folks but don't get too excited just yet.

The questions I have are the following:

a.) How true is this?

Response: I have followed the account for a bit and he was right on when we started our engagement with Porto and also spot on with Podolski's transfer to Arsenal. If M'Vila moves as well, that will be another target and club he/she/they got right.
