Wouldn't touch him. Fair weather player who no-one had heard of upto a couple of seasons ago and how he has behaved at West Ham is outrageous. Hope they make him rot in their reserves.

To say nobody had heard of him up untill a few years ago is a bit unfair. He was always an exceptional talent that was highly regarded when he played for StEtienne. Big clubs have scouted him for years, Arsenal have been close to signing him several times. Ultimately what it comes down to and why he went to a smaller club like West Ham despite seemingly being able to walk into any side bar Barcelona and maybe Real is in plain view this year. He has a sh*t attitude and will throw his toys out the pram at first sign of struggle.

I'd imagine many people hadn't heard of him, that was certainly the impression I got when he moved to West Ham. The hard-core football fan who takes in loads of football like the French league would know him but your average joe who just watched domestic football in all likelihood wouldn't know him. He wasn't exactly an established internationalist when he moved to West Ham.

I think it's pretty accurate tbh.

Never said it wasnt possible that somebody hadnt heard of him. I just said it wasnt some unheard of player that suddenly popped up on the radar as a 27 year old. He was a highly regarded talent for a long time, but always had a sh*t attitude which is why a move never materialized.

Payet can f**k off. Every club he's been to he's gone on strike to engineer a move.

Why would we want him...he certainly not better than what we already have and imo wouldn't improve the squad, probably just cause dressing room unrest with his attitude.

If you take away Liverpool Torres ability to score goals you get Chelsea Torres!:sadwalk:

I get where you are coming from, but that statement does have some merit.

Take away the merit from the statement and it's a bit rubbish, isn't it? :sofa:

Just not enough hours in the day / time in my life to be aware of too many players in other European leagues so these days I am your average Joe!!

I'm guessing that Payet will not be the sort of player Conte would want or trust.

You are not alone mate.

When he signed my FB and other social media were full of "Who?". Many folk don't have the time to watch other European football and don't play FIFA or Football manager.

He's a fantastic player but his baggage as in his attitude isn't worth the risk to our group. That's why he's never been at a big club, I doubt he would have the mentality for it.

So what you're saying is I need to start playing Football Manager when I get home?

I mean... I had other plans, but I suppose I can.

Would be nice to have a world class free kick taker again though.
We've not had a decent free kick taker since Lampard/Drogba. Perhaps Alonso will be the answer, I thought we finally found ourselves one in Willian but he hasn't scored any yet this season has he? Why doesn't Hazard take free kicks? Last time I remember him taking one he scored, against Man City

Well, Luiz isn't willing to share that responsibility with everyone!

I have known him to be a top players since he was at Saint Etienne. I think he is among the few top players who are unfortunate to join a big team.
With his quality, he will start for any team in the world.
Am not sure about his attitude though.

Not sure about payet, I wonder what sort of relationship he had with hazard at lille? On paper it looks like they linked up well.

How would payet react to starting a big match on the bench in favour of Willian or personal who undoubtedly have better work rate?

Great player when he is on it though, but there's is serious doubt about his attitude and professionism to compete in a squad with plenty of great players for competition.

But there's always that thought of he could excel here, change his attitude and be a fantastically entertaining addition to a winning team.

Big gamble though.

He wouldn't get in Madrid or Barca's side.

He's a good player but his attitude stinks and clearly he doesn't have the mentality to play for a huge club which is why he has spent his career at middle level clubs.

Payet is a proven premier league player with good skills. I dont know what sort of money he would cause, but if he can be obtained for a reasonable price, i dont see why we should not get him. We seem do be doing great this year cos of Conte and the fact that we dont have midweek games and that removes the need for us to rotate the squad for fresh legs. Next year we will be in Champions League and we need a squad of good players so any quality addition should be welcomed.

Tottenham are playing some amazing football right now, but when they had midweek games, they were not as good as they currently are. We cannot be relaxed cos our squad is doing good at this moment. Besides, plaers who we come from West Ham have been good to us.

what's the chance of getting messi?

I think ManCity have higher chance of getting him. He's best friend with Aguero and City got billionaire owners who's ready to spend.

scored from an unbelievable angle yesterday thomas lemar

monaco have a lot of young starlets, lemar, silva, mbappe, bakayoko, sidibe, number 1 raid destination for big clubs this summer

France have so many good talents right now its hurting my brain. Although saying that some of them haven't hit the heights like Imbula Kondogbia & Digne didn't do that well at PSG, Zouma and Laoprte both coming back from bad injuries and Martial struggling a bit at Utd. I said a few times on here but for me its one of the best leagues to buy players from, the success rate for us has been high buying straight from Ligue 1.
