Tonali to Spurs for 100M. The market is truly gone now.

Enzo Fernandez is staying. 100%.

The problem is that the rest of the world doesn't have the money Premier League teams have, so it's impossible to sell Enzo to Real Madrid for as much as we would like. If a Premier League team was interested, then we could do it.

What is interesting is Spurs are willing to pay big wages to go with the transfer fees, which our lot don’t want to. Xavi Simmons is on £200k/w, Gallagher £250k/w, and they have an agreement with Tonali at £200k/w. Won’t be surprised if targets start opting for Spurs as the 2nd prime option after Arsenal, since our lot are more interested in rummaging through the bargain bin.

Palestra is on 150k/week and you have never heard the guy before

Real Madrid have all the La Liga money they just think they can bully teams and tap up players to force a move because they're 'Real Madrid'.

We're just making numbers up as we go now.

Heard Xabi Alonso's salary is 1 trillion gumballs an hour.

Yeah fairly sure he will be on about 100k which is pretty standard for us. And not unreasonable.

Not a surprise. 8 m is a reasonable number for 34 years old however Sunderland is not interested on selling.

Unsurprising. He's worth a heap more than £8m to them. He underlines their very shrewd upgrading of the squad from the Championship.

Definitely. 100k a week with performance bonuses and a payrise if we make CL again.

Palmer is only on 130k a week base salary, so no way we sign a new RB and put him on more.

Santos is very likely to be sold I reckon.

I’ve always rated him but he has a lack of pace that’s not great for a PL player. Much the same as Enzo.

Don’t think lack of pace is something I’d criticize Santos.

In a market where midfielders are going for insane amounts I don’t see us selling him. And why should we?

I'd rather keep him as well, he's had his one full season of adjustment to the PL now and I'd be intrigued to see what he could bring this season. In general I kind of like our midfield options as is, but it remains to be seen whether Enzo will stay and if Xabi can fully unlock him, whether Lavia can stay fit and whether Santos and Barco can improve quickly enough to be the midfielders we need. LOTS of potential, unfortunately quite a few question marks as well

All quiet on the Xhaka front.

Time for Sunderland to realise that he wants to leave and they will have to come to terms with their loss. The grieving process. Chelsea will go up to 10 million quid and so on. Alonso wants him and he wants him in the capacity of player-coach and a potential assistant-manager. In that context i feel somewhat happier than bringing him in to fulfill our long-term midfield needs post-Enzo.

The midfielders going for insane have a different skill set. No one is paying premium for a DM, players like Baleba who was priced at £100m last summer is now on the scrap heap. We currently have 4 DMs in our squad, IMO in an ideal world we need to sell 2.

Let them know. They've just upgraded to a fax machine.

Indeed he is. Last summer's transfer business was brilliant but Xhaka has stood out as the most important signing bar none.

It is very fortunate for you but terrible news for us that you've not only finally appointed an outstanding manager but a man who played such a pivotal role in Xhaka's career. If it wasn't the double attraction of Alonso and London I think Xhaka would have been more than content to stay another year or two on Wearside.

However if he is to leave then £20,000,000 is not an unreasonable fee. Conveniently what Chelsea have just pocketed while upgrading from Maresca to Alonso. Xhaka is 33; Thiago Silva was weeks short of his 36th birthday when he signed for Chelsea. I'd presume, with hindsight, few Chelsea supporters would think £20,000,000 wouldn't have been a bargain for him.

I believe 2026-7 will be a very enjoyable and memorable one for Chelsea providing Alonso is given the signings he wants. Looking from afar I'd think a top striker would be near the top of his list. But right at the top and the foundation of your side for next season is Granit Xhaka. There isn't a single Sunderland supporter who won't be sorry to lose him whatever the fee. But if he's to go then I hope at least that your ridiculously profligate owners aren't going to be parsimonious just when the player in question will be worth a lot more than a third of a Mudryk.

I get your reasoning and personally I think it is worth the money simply to develop and maintain a good relationship with a club that we may well need to trade with, as we have about 15 players to offload this summer.

That said, and I don't know if the £4m in add-ons would have been triggered but didn't Sunderland only stump up £13m up front for an invincible Bundesliga title winner.

Paying a similar amount or just north, possibly As add-ons should be enough as this move is being engineered by the player.

It's just a shame that these hopeless fking cretins have failed to read the room once again and may well now have fcked up a relationship with a club that we might have offloaded one or more of our no hopers on to, or at least one of the youngsters on loan.

An add on was triggered when they qualified for Europe apparently which makes sense.

Value is relevant to the two parties. I think the deal will happen because unfortunately for Sunderland the player wants it.

I don’t think relationships need to be soured here I expect something between £10-£15m ish reasonable considering what they paid and the impact he had. They may feel a profit is on the cards but they paid top $ when they signed him at his age and he wants out. It really shouldn’t be a big deal, why would Sunderland want to sour a relationship with Chelsea. The amount of player trading we do I think clubs should want to keep us sweet.
