August 5Aug 5 Sky Sports reporting we are happy with Sanchez and Penders and will not proceed with Diogo Costa.

For once we have a goalie who has good distribution, presence, and claims corners. Sanchez gives me the jitters in those situations. Ironically, Costa’s main weakness is crosses.

Rice, Bruno, Zubimendi, MLS.I do find it funny that they sold Norgaard at a loss and Tamiyasu just left on a free, yet they are spending big money on Bruno and almost got Rogers for 100m. On top of it, they offer mad wages to their players.I swear Arsenal has benefited the most from PSR/FFP rule changes. This is from 2 seasons ago.
August 6Aug 6 Just a complete co-incidence that the old G14 clubs are the ones most to benefit from the new financial regulations, definitely not what was intended....honest guv....

Any regs linked to income, no matter how they're framed, will favour the biggest earning clubs.

We need to do better if we want to challenge the better teams.

When he's not being told to exclusively play it short, he's class. There are other holes I would fix first. Primarily who is next to Caicedo. Then it's about depth. Then maybe it's about the goalkeeper.
August 6Aug 6 I don’t think you win the league with Sanchez in goal.Teams who win the league have great keepers. Imagine Sanchez in any type of title run in, those tight games were performance don’t matter you just have to keep winning. You could say the same about Penders who’s never kicked a ball in the prem.No thanks, IMO a new keeper is a sure way of upgrading the team and is just as or more important than a new partner for MC.Hopefully we can have a good clear out and do both. August 6Aug 6 I mean Sanchez could win a major club trophy... If he signed for PSG. The could cover up his many mistakes by smashing enough in at the other end.

My issue with him is his command of the box, dealing with crosses, and especially his decision-making. I personally value a goalkeeper's decisions very highly because they're often what separates good keepers from elite ones. That's why I don't think Sanchez is the level Chelsea should be settling for if the goal is to compete with the very best teams. For example, I was never as high on Ederson as most people. I watched him a lot for Brazil as well as City, and I thought his decision-making and overall goalkeeping were overrated. City's dominance and possession-heavy style hid many of his weaknesses and amplified his strengths.

August 8Aug 8 While we all agree Raya is not world class he is still better than Sanchez.Raya doesn’t spook those 4 centre backs like Sanchez does ours at times.Arsenal fans I remember felt Ramsdale was hard done by at the time having had a decent season but Arteta saw a chance to upgrade his keeper and took it.That’s how you improve your squad. But it looks like they are going with what they have. Let’s hope Penders is good, and hopefully we won’t be playing kamakazi football this season which doesn’t help anyone especially Sanchez. August 8Aug 8 But the one he was interested in was Maxi Araujo, but I suppose Chavarria puts an end to that.
