April 9, 20179 yr Looking back, still amazed that game in Tromso ahead that night. Mind you they might not have a snow free pitch until the following April !

April 10, 20179 yr This photo was taken from the East Stand and looks out onto the crowd that invaded the pitch after the last game of the 1954/55 season, and were awaiting the result of the Man U. game to see if we'd won the League. That's an 8 year old me in the white circle.
April 11, 20179 yr The other great striker in this picture is Denis Law. My old mans second favourite ever Scottish player. His favourite? Charlie Cooke.

Cooke and Law, two fine Scottish players. Two of so many great Scottish players over the years and quite a few of them played for Chelsea. A shame that Charlie only played 16 games for Scotland but I guess he would have played more for the national side if it hadn't been for the likes of Willie Henderson, Davie Wilson and Willie Johnston.

April 13, 20179 yr There was a gap of 5 years between Charlie Cookes last two Scotland caps! He was very unfortunate not to win more. Many far less talented Scottish players won far more caps. My old man actually compared him to Steve Coppell of Man Utd and England. A fair comparison?
April 13, 20179 yr Steve Coppell couldn't dribble. A hard working flank player but lacked the skill and finesse of the great wingers.

Even Johns wife Janet use to travel with them. You couldn't imagine current players mums and wives doing this! Different times.
