You also could get some serious headaches heading Wembley Trophy balls which would go all egg shaped after a while.
November 1, 20178 yr On Sky Arts there is a film called D.O.A. A Rites of Passage it's about mainly the Sex Pistols and their U.S. tour. About 20 minutes in there's a clip of Chelsea fans walking down what looks like the Kings Rd. They all have different scarfs on including one which is mainly green with white and red stripes. I haven't seen a scarf like that for nearly 40 years great memories.
November 1, 20178 yr I don't know her personally but I know Cathy is a Chelsea legend. http://www.fsf.org.uk/blog/view/following-chelsea-on-the-football-specials

November 1, 20178 yr Had a couple of pairs of Gola boots and trainers too. My first Puma ones were moulded Puma Cub boots and I think my first adidas ones were Hansi Muller boots and I bought a set of red nylon screw in studs !

Puma boots, Winfield boots or Gola boots, once I had my sepp Maier shorts and bonnetti gloves on, I was unbeatable, you could bring your own ball, and even take it home in a strop once you realised there was no way past me.......ah, amazing how the passing of time can cloud your memory!!!
November 2, 20178 yr As a kid me and my brother played with that Wembley trophy ball and would reguarly puncture it on the rose thorns in the garden. We learnt that with a burning match you could heat the plastic up and cover the puncture hole ,let the plastic cool down and game on !! Happy days and happy memories

The price for the year 96/97 was 440£ but at least it included domestic home cupties (thanks for ballsing that up Kenyon) The stubs you pulled out each game would have been counterfeiter’s dream in the modern game!!!!

November 2, 20178 yr Not sure when the photo was taken. Looks like the early sixties. Can't find a record of us playing Ipswich on 5 November. The car in the background looks like a Mark II Jaguar.

Didn't they return tickets though spurs, I seem to remember in papers before the game spurs fans had said they were scared to go to the game, because of the fear of trouble. As if we would of returned tickets if we were playing at sh*te Hart lane

I think you're right about it being a combination fixture. Have done a bit more research and we played Ipswich on 5 November 1955 and won 4-3. http://thechels.info/wiki/1955-56_season_London_Combination_League Also means that the car in the background isn't a Mark II Jag as that wasn't made until a few years later. It may be an Austin. Edited November 3, 20178 yr by Boyne
November 3, 20178 yr Not a Chelsea game but a programme for a FA Charity Final played at the Bridge. If I remember correctly there is at least one follower of Dulwich Hamlet on here.

November 4, 20178 yr From the club website. An interview with Joe McLaughlin. A fine player. Formed a good defensive partnership with Colin Pates. http://www.chelseafc.com/news/latest-news/2017/11/home-and-away--joe-mclaughlin.html
November 5, 20178 yr My all time favourite CFC club badge is the one from the Spurs QF programme, with the turquoise outer rim. I remember reading in the papers that they had a go at the Maltsers that day; put the windows through and climbed in, which begs the question why didn't they just use the door? Re old boots, my first pair of screw in were the dreaded Winfields, followed by Adidas Beckenbauer Supers, then Puma King when I started my paper round. The old lightweight plastic footballs were often made by Frido I think, and used to swerve the opposite way to proper balls. First leather football I had was from Sondico- used to dubbin it to make it waterproof { use that term loosely} It was a prize possession- I had a fight with my brother once when I caught him bouncing it on the pavement on the way back from the Rec- that used to scuff balls something terrible.

Re European trips, the first season we qualified for the continent after a 22 year hiatus would have been 94, courtesy of being loosing Cup Finalists to Manure who were already eligible for the European Cup. I remember during the Makita Tournament at the library, the big song being ' We didn't win the football league we didn't win the cup, but were all going to Europe' I used to like the Cup Winners Cup cause the games were played on Thursday- being closer to the weekend than your Champions League Tuesday and Wednesdays made it easier to hang around for the weekend. We took thousands to Bruge, Real Zaragosa, Memphis Vienna etc etc Edited November 5, 20178 yr by Ewell CFC

There were no top=flight games in Scotland that weekend as the national team was playing in a World Cup qualifier. Remember walking into the ground and recognising the Ranges scarves and songs. At half-time a Liverpool fan wearing a half-and-half hat (Liverpool and Celtic) walked in front of the Chelsea and Rangers fans and got a load of abuse. We were in the Anfield Road End, very close to their mob who all turned up after the game had kicked off- from memory they gave us I think two thirds of the end, and there was no fence seperating home and away { just OB and stewards} They struck us as being very young for football boys; [all zits and sh*tty Peter Storm/ Patrick Cagoules.], snarling away. I think we laughed at them more than anything
