I've told this story before. In the early mid 70s, my older brother went on a school trip to London, saw that mirror and bought it for me as a present. Unfortunately, he managed to leave it on the tube so I never received it. Fast forward to 2012. My wife and I had recently joined a choir set up for people affected by cancer, and we got to know a guy who worked in the charity shop run by the charity who set up the choir. He is also a big football fan (Manure) and we often talked football. One day he told me someone had donated an old Chelsea mirror and he'd put it aside for me and my son. So 40 years or so later, I finally got the mirror my brother bought for me.

Interesting how some of the most iconic Chelsea goals were dramatic equalisers rather than winners: Ossie's, Drogba's, and Essien's v Arsenal.

I was going to say had your brother been drinking obviously not if it was a school trip but how did he manage to lose it must have been quite cumbersome. Could it be a big brother story as in he told you he bought it but never did ?😁
March 6, 20215 yr Did we ever wear that white top and was it commercially available I don't ever remember anyone wearing it. Same as the third kit from 89-90 don't think you could buy it either. We always wore white against Shrewsbury I've got a programme cover with Dennis Rofe wearing it but it's the Le Coq Sportif one.

Maybe he just put it down, got distracted and had to move quickly when the teachers shouted 'everyone off'. But your last sentence is also very plausible.

It's probably because it's something my older brother would have done ha ha. He was a massive Clash fan and I did like them but my band were The Jam when it was my birthday he bought me London Calling it was killing two birds with one stone he was buying me a present when in reality he was buying it for himself. Soon as I opened it he insisted I put it on and he knew the words of nearly every song not bad since it was a double album 😁

Nothing wrong with self-interested present-buying!

The white kit used 80/81 in the team pic you could buy. Chelsea used a red kit 79/80 then the Le Coq one neither of these you could get. 85/86 red kit was not for sale either.

I was in the Harding stand the day he score his last goal for Chelsea and was carried off on a stretcher... Bobby Di Matteo scored one and I think Vialli in victory over spurs that day. 25 years ago is a lifetime. https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/2018/9/6/my-blue-days--david-lee Happy times and I loved the Hoddle revolution.

I recall David Lee or Rodney Trotter as some fans used to chant. I saw him as a midfielder rather than a defender, always liked him as he had a decent shot. He wasn't the most mobile so could understand him not playing every game. Good interview, I must have missed the John Spencer and Julian Dicks coming together as I went to Upton Park a couple of times.

Always liked him and saw Hoddle looking to mold him as a sweeper as he was a very good passer. Was at the Spurs game when he broke his leg. Terrible shame. But respect to Spurs fans that day for the Matthew Harding tribute.

Read his posts he's got nothing good to say about Chelsea and his thinly veiled hatred is easy to spot if you read between the lines.
