Who made the least number of mistakes and actually played some football?

Can only be Mata I guess.

Loz can you please just put in some script that automatically adds my vote for Mata every game?

We don't have another player who looks capable of putting in a mom performance not now, not ever.

Just a very sorry mess all round.

Sturridge played reasonably well I thought. Probably should have gone for Mata, but thought I'd break the combo.

I give to Ash,if it wasn't for his goaline clearence, the tie would be over already.

Plus, he kept his sh*t together inspite of seeing bossy start in his place, well done Ashley.

Mata

I think were expecting too much from him as he is the only player you want on the ball.

Not so sure his sh*t was as neatly organised as you suggest. He lost his man on a number of occasions and was ball watching far too often. To be fair to him it did appear this was more to do with not being fit than anything else.

Quite a few players did things in fits and starts, meaning no one had a stand out game: Petr made some great saves to keep us in the tie, especially in the first half. Ash's dramatic goal line clearance also keeps us in it. Luiz, apart from his mistake that led to their third goal, put in a good shift, including trying to push us forward in search of the equalizer at 1-2. Studge is looking more and more like a slightly more promising version of Gronkjaer - fancy with the footwork but doesn't get him anywhere much and too selfish to make an important pass when he does get into good positions. Malouda looked good in fits and starts, but he just doesn't take on his man often enough or try hard enough to get to the byline to make the cross. Mata was the brightest of a drab bunch, and more than most, his goal (potentially worth two) keeps us in with a shout for the return leg.

The rest pretty much had forgettable games: Bosingwa - can't believe he starts almost every game and even ahead of Ash (thought Ash was injured). Same goes for Meireles, a hard worker on the pitch for sure but can't pass to save his life. To think he keeps Lamps and Ess on the bench! Even Romeu! Ramires' passing was all over the place on the day, and squandered probably our best chance other than the goal (even though his clever running set it up in the first place - if that had gone in, it would be pretty much tie over).

Cheers,

Butch

Mata, .........again.

It comes to something when the only reasons Bossy & Meireles won't play is because one is injured and the other is suspended.

Ashley. Herculean effort in ensuring that the door's not completely closed. And for the assist for our goal, Napoli.

you are sh*tting me!!!!!!!!

he kept losing the ball with stupid twists and fancy turns when we needed to hold possession, play one touch and run... he never went by a player all night, his reluctance to pass until its obvious he can do nothing else with it really pisses me off....................i know he's played out of position but feck me, can he not play as a team player on an away leg where possession is vital..........really thought this yr was gonna be the one for him, next England star?? not on this showing....

Mata, Cech, Ash & possibly Luiz (error apart) only ones worth a mention (things will change when Drogs comes back, yeah right----fcuk me....only thing he was afraid off changing was a mark on his face!! ......Didier of old came back........Torres maybe would have closed down their defence and stopped them playing from the back)

rant over........haven't bothered reading the match thread yet.....dearee me wots it gonna be like....

Perhaps MAN of the match is something that should be ironed out of The Shed End forum forever, the mentality of Chelsea FC players are based on BIG PLAYERS not a team based mentality nowadays, no one was worth a special mention, Mata is currently our best player but if you have a team that won't function without its individual "stars" then it's not a well functioned team. We are currently a shambles, Drogba was as expected, uneventful to say the least, our midfield was based on 3 players that were never going to play as a group and our defence was cringe worthy, if I had to give a thank you it would be to Cech and Ashley otherwise we would have been well and truly f•••ed over.
