He probably won't get many votes but I'm picking Essien. I thought he had a very decent game and

a steadying influence on our midfield. His passing also injected a bit of urgently going forward.

From the stream I watched its difficult to pick a mom so I'll wait till I see Match of the Day, I really hope my gut feeling is right and somethings been sorted out as it looked more like everyone ws pulling together especially second half.

Its easy to say this team should have started in Naples but if there were conflicting personalities the performance would have been subdued, I think/hope there has been a truce.

Went for Luiz, with Frank right behind.

Hope the clean sheet gives some more confidence to Luiz, Cahill, and Ivan after the last couple of games.

I didn't see the game, but I am giving it to Lampard anyway with Drogba just behind....as they are complete f**king legends and will come back time and time again to prove the haters wrong.

Awesome stuff

Super frank and by a country mile brilliant performance wanting to prove a point I think. He was in every attack and was back organising the defence when not. Must have touched every blade of grass today

Cahill deserves a shout. He played well. His pace came in handy a few times, covering back.

Luiz was also excellent. Physical, assertive, but he played within himself. And what a well-taken goal.

The midfield of Essien, Ramires and Lampard did an excellent job of closing down. Been a while since we've seen that.

Long way of saying, I have no idea who to pick!

luiz takes it for me.. when the game was looking to for someome to take initiative, he did so. Great goal and it was the platform for the teams performance in the second half.

After a better look at the game I think there was some good performances all round, Luiz Frank Essien Ramires...difficult one and will give it to Frank for getting the Job done and not looking lacklustre because of any problems there might be between him and the manager.

I think with all the media stories about the disagreement between the two they proved to be two classy men, AVB for starting Frank and having him Captain the team, Frank for doing his best (as he always should) long may it continue.

Agreed. Frank said his piece to the media afterwards and no-one can begrudge him a bit of it, even hough you know the newspapers will make a meal out of it. He's earned the right a hundred times over. He was honest, as he always is. I admire him enormously.

You can call Essien , Lamps deadwood -- But their the classiest midfielders chelsea have atm.

What they might not have in pace , they make up for with tons of experience !

Just saying I was at the game and some asked about Franks interaction with AVB. I didnt see any of his interaction with AVB but part of why I say that Frank was MOTM by a mile was not captured on MOTD or likely on the TV... He was directing everything he was part of everything and when not directing play he wa s applauding the crowd. Great captains performance

Lampard or Luiz on performance, and Essien on the impact his inclusion seemed to have on the composure of the midfield. Nothing spectacular, but something we've really missed.

So glad we left Meireles out. He is not part of the solution...

Deadwood?, driftwood? more like a case of......... i've got wood!.

Just love Super Frank Lampard..........what a guy!,what a true pro.

On the day of records set (yet again by super Frank), he'll get my vote.

Mind you,it was a great effort from Essien also.

Some very good performances. Lamps had a great game and Sturridge showed again how he gives us something much needed in attack - quick feet, a bit of pace and unpredictabliity. But gone for Luiz. We needed the first goal desperately to open Bolton up and what a well taken goal it was for a centre back! Sheer Class.
