Lampard Out of Euro 2012

This is good news from a Chelsea point of view, but bad news from a personal point of view - even less reasons to watch the Euros now! Gutted for him also as Gem said.

Woah, I missed this altogether. That must be a blow to him. I doubt whether it is such good news from a Chelsea point of view, at his age with every injury he will become more susceptible to new injuries. Plus the effort it will take to recover will take its toll. Gutted for him.

Feel sorry for frank but couldn't give a toss about England if I'm honest.

Gotta laugh at all the fickle (anti Chelsea) England fans who are the first to reel out the 'fat frank is overated' stuff and claim he isn't worth a place now realise Jordan Henderson is taking his place!

Ever heard the expression be careful what u with for !

Let's not get ahead of ourselves on that this is good news for us. As I read elsewhere earlier, the last time he had a thigh injury he missed a good chunk of our season. Hope it's not that serious, but especially as he gets older, it very well could be something that will put him on the sideline for awhile.

So who will the media blame for Stevie G not cutting it for England this time?

Two tournaments in a row they have seen JT stripped of the armband at a time where Rio was not going to get it so the media darling could captain the national side again. Only this time no Lampard to be blamed for impeding SG.

So now what? Probably the focus will be on how JT should have not been playing for England instead...

I am happy, as I think solely for Chelsea's best interests and I don't give a hoot about England in the Euros (sorry, but that's how I feel). I hope his thigh gets plenty of rest for the upcoming season starting in mid-August.

I'm a bit ambivalent towards these International games. It's always nice to see players not getting hurt, but some of these guys breathe England. If Terry would have to sit and watch Turdinand play stopper instead of him I don't know what he would have done. Just hope he can heal his thigh now and continue his improvement in the deeper role he has been given.

And Henderson, well...

Disappointing for him, but England don't deserve him. He's been a fantasic player for years and the amount of sh*t he gets from England fans and English media, all because he's not Steven Gerrard, is ridiculous. Especially when you consider the facts for a moment - Lampard is a better goal scorer, Lampard makes more assists, Lampard is a better role model, Lampard is just generally a better human being.

Sad for Frank, this was probably his last chance to make something with England. I hope it's not a serious injury and he has a good break and a good preseason.

I think he works better for the team as well , Gerrard only thinks about himself , the guy has no positional sense.

The question I'm asking myself is why he's getting so badly injured so close to a major tournament (and Barry!)? What are Roy Hodgson's training methods? Torn muscles are at best avoidable at this stage of the prep. (including friendlies in regard to Gary Barry.)

I agree with a previous poster, torn quads and hamstrings can take months to mend.

Roy Hodgson and the National team isn't to blame for this. Lampard is pretty old and has had a rough season end, probably just not fully recovered.

I agree its better for us but totally unselfishly I'm gutted for frank

It was probably his last international adventure. Poor fella.

Good post, that's how i feel too.. Poor Frank.

Alan

Hamstring strains, sprains that result from over-extension and trips and falls I can understand but 'torn muscles' are invaribly intentional over-exertion injuries.

'Thigh anxiety' - cos here comes Henderson. Would much have preferred Adam Johnson.

Obviously it's disappointing for Frank that he's missing out on probably his last international tournament. The upside is at least he's getting a break after a long season and won't be associated with another failed England team.
