The Frank Lampard goal scoring record thread

Featured Replies

Daily Star (so obviously not exactly the most reliable source for news) is saying Lampard favours a summer switch to Manchester United.

Would he make that move knowing it could well "tarnish" his reputation as a CFC legend?

Favoring a switch to United over staying at Chelsea another season?

There's been a lot of nonsense in the media about Frank this season, but this definitely takes the cake.

...In it you can see Lamps pointing skywards after his goal against Brazil - someone earlier said he didn't seem to be doing it anymore...

I said he didn't do it anymore. The one he did against Brazil was the one handed celebration where he points his finger to the sky. After his mom died, he changed it to the kind of celebration where he pointed "to the heavens" with both hands and looked up. Now he's gone back to the one handed celebration and he doesn't look "to the heavens" either, just forward.

Here are some pictures of the celebration I was talking about:

I wonder how he would celebrate if he broke the all time goal scoring record.

I'm too young to have seen him play, but did Tambling have a "signature celebration"? Would be a nice gesture if he copied that if/when he breaks the record. A bit like his dance around the corner flag celebration in the FA Cup final, as an homage to his dad.

He wants to stay at Chelsea, he doesn't want to stay at Chelsea, he's going to LA Galaxy, he's going to Man U, he's going to PSG, he's going to Italy, he'll accept lower wages, he won't accept lower wages, he wants a 2 year deal, he'll accept a 1 year deal, Chelsea have opened negotiations, Chelsea have told him he can leave, etc etc

In other words the press don't have the foggiest idea what's going on. Much like when they pretend to know what Roman Abramovich wants and doesn't want.

You missed the bit about Roman wanting his revenge on those who got AVB the sack by expunging them all from the club.

Hence why the ringleaders like Ashley Cole will never get a new contract. Oh wait...

Cundy on talksport said they have been no new negotiations, the press have reported them, Lampards people have denied any talks have taken place.

also said he is likely to go to Manchester.

Perhaps the leaks to the press are a PR stunt to make the club look a bit better

Club legend, born 1978, has appropriate and deserved end to loyal club career.

a) Jamie Carragher

b) Frank Lampard

The difference is that Carragher has been useless for at least 5 years and no one would take him on a free.

Lamps still has plenty of suitors providing we don't offer him what he wants.

It's scandalous that we havent already snapped him up on a two year deal and begged him to accept more wage's.

Surely Roman has learnt his lesson with Drogba and Anelka? * not trying to dirty the thread mentioning the chairman just merely trying to make the point that Frank has more than one year left in his career and i think if he had to play against us it would be sad for us the supporter's and him seeing he is Chelsea*.

If he starts the majority of our matches until the end of the season I think he'll do it, depends if he gets rotated/rested more once Mikel is back.

Oh man! I forgot about John 'sideways pass' Obi Mikel.

Hopefully he gets benched as soon as he gets back. I really want Lamps to break Tambling's record in the next 5 games or less.

A regular match winner with his goal scoring ability ....... proves this again and again for Chelsea and ENGLAND ! Why would any owner, businessman or club not extend his f88king contract !! Utter MAdness !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If he gets the record this term, as we all hope he does I assume, that bit of history will have been created with the FSW at the helm, something we will never be able to erase, and something that will be forever imprinted on any images of the day that we will watch over and over.

Shame on you Roman for doing this to us.

In some ways it would be better if he ended up leaving, but during the last game (while tied for the record) was through on goal (possibly in the 88th minute), but squared the ball at the last moment, letting Mikel to score. Then I imagine he would sprint off in celebration, putting two middle fingers up at Benitez as he runs past, then he would continue down the tunnel and into football legend.

Depends how the day plays out. I can still remember finally knocking Liverpool out of the CL, and Frank's penalty to put us ahead, with immense happiness despite Avram Grant being in charge. As long as Frank doesn't celebrate near enough for Benitez to make the highlight reels, I suspect I'll survive.

Still would have been nice if he'd done it under RDM, though.

^ I imagine, if and when Lampard scores the record-breaking goal, rather than celebrate, Benitez will call over one of the full-backs and give him some tactical advice.
