I don't expect us to be playing the likes of Sparta Prague, Steaua Bucharest or Basel next season (except in the group stages of the CL). If you put Lukaku in our squad and played him as much as Torres did last season he would have contributed FAR more than Torres did. If Torres stays he should be 3rd choice at best, but we'd be better off selling him.[/quote

How exactly do you know this, or is this just hopeful thinking, i seem to remember one of the teams we played tonked Atletico, and they tonked us, so Torres scoring about 10 in all competitions next season is a bit Harsh.!!!

Why would u think he was useless, though? He had a massive say in winning us another European trophy.

the fact that the only trophy win he had a say in was in a sub-par competition is very indicative of his ability

tonked?! it was 2-1 on aggregate. and everyone who saw the game will tell you rubin were thoroughly outplayed in the first game, the one they won 2-0

Says in today's paper that Napoli have appointed Rafa and want him to take Torres with him as part of a swap deal with us for Cavani. But apparently we are reluctant to sell Torres.

It's looking more and more unlikely that it will ever properly work out for Torres at Chelsea, so I think it might be a good time to move on.

I think if we were looking to get back even a fraction of what we paid, we are better off selling him whilst he has had a decent season. If he's s**te next season we're knackered.

IF he's sh*te??

From Sunderland away till the Europa League got underway he was awful. However, Liverpool mismanaged his injuries and that is what caused his decline. He has adapted well though, and become a more intelligent player and more of a team player.

He shouldn't be first choice next season. If Falcao comes, he will be. However a trio of Falcao, Torres and Lukaku/Ba will be a force.

I know some hate him and slate his effort but I can't agree. He puts a lot into it, but he's not the same player we faced in his scouse prime. Whatever happens, his goals won us the Europa League and his place in our history is assured

Yes i wouldn't have said he was sh*te this past season. He's scored 23 goals.

In about three times the appearances. Most have been in Europe as well, I think the Everton goal was the only league goal that he's scored since January.

December mate haha

I'd keep him, 23 goals and his better looking than Ba ::MooNeY::

Sheva cost us 30 and we didn't exactly make anything on that when he left.

We will not and should it be looking for silly sums for Torres because he's not a top striker anymore but he is on top wages.

If we can't sell him after his best season in a blue shirt then I can't see us doing it any other time, if its 8-10million then so be it just cut our losses.

We need another hitman because Lukaku is better than Ba and who knows if the big man will be here next season

Is Lukaku really the answer? I know everyone goes on about him but he isn't exactly a world class megastar. We're double European champions, will be challenging for major honours and will very likely have one of the best managers in world football at the helm next season- can we really not get the likes of Falcao or Lewandowski?

I'd say Lukaku could be a megastar. We're all drooling over him already and he's only I think 19 so just imagine him in a decade or so, especially if he learns from The Special One who has already made us Drogba (who bear in mind was nowhere near this good at 19). He might not be the most technically gifted but he's not so much built like a fridge as the WBA fans sung, but more like a monster truck, one which I expect to flatten a hose of defenders over the years to come.

Seems Lewandowski is set for Bayern according to many sources including what the Bayern manager is supposed to have said after the CL win. Falcao could seal a move to Monaco tomorrow. Cavani is close to signing for us one min, City the next, then off to Spain etc so who knows.

If we cannot get a top draw striker like that I would sooner give the spot to Lukaku than sign another Ba or the like.

the trouble is lukau seems to want to either be number one at chelsea, or go on loan where he will play week in week out. id want him to be our number 2 striker behind a top name that can lead us to glory in the prem and champs league, and can help bring lukau on as well. its a tricky situation. we need lukaku around to find his feet at chelsea, but if he's number 1 striker then a) thats a lot of pressure on young shoulders and b) it will mean we have failed in the transfer market

I really disagree. Lukaku is great for a team like West Brom who aim for the top half etc, but i don't think he should lead the line for us. I actually find it a bit discerning that we seem to be losing targets to our rivals. What happens next season when United have Van Persie, Hernandez, Rooney and possibly Ronaldo, City have Cavani, Tevez and Aguero and we have Lukaku, Torres and Ba?
