November 29, 201312 yr JM should have kept this behind closed doors. He's pushing him farther away from the club. The problem is Lukaku should have kept his mouth shut if he was unhappy with the state of affairs and privately spoke to the club before blabbing off to the press, he is at fault here; Jose' is just responding in kind in a coded way because he knows Lukaku can't come out and say that he wasn't good enough for the Chelsea squad, that way Jose' is the winner. Let's hope young Mr. Lukaku doesn't say a bad word against CFC or Jose for the rest of the year or this could get ugly.
November 29, 201312 yr Here it is http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25158153 What a crap headline, not mentioned at all in the article that he wants to leave Chelsea.
November 29, 201312 yr I know right, and the fact he said ""I would like to be successful at Chelsea but I have to work and grow and be a better player " makes the headline even more stupid.I've seen Lukaku say quite a few times that he wanted to be Chelsea number one striker by the times he 21 and he's going the right way about it. How would you like to be second best to a £50m dud getting 30 minute cameos when you're clearly twice as good as he is? I'd be pretty pissed off too, Sturridge essentially did the same thing but didn't mouth off to the press. Before we blame lukaku/mourinho for this, it's been a situation that's happened for the past 2 years. Obviously Mourinho isn't going to have that nonsense after what happened at Madrid as well, so he'd favour the hard working silent players in the team like Fernando over him. It's all to easy to blame lukaku, same way it was all too easy to bench sturridge and say torres is the better player, look how that turned out. We either get lewandowski or someone similar in the summer and sell Lukaku, or we get rid of Torres and we no longer have that pressure of starting the lad who deserves to be starting. November 30, 201312 yr http://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/nov/29/jose-mourinho-romelu-lukaku-chelsea-everton The Guardian are reporting that Romelu made a 'verbal transfer request' on deadline day.
November 30, 201312 yr Same in the Mail.... Jose Mourinho has blasted Romelu Lukaku, the Chelsea striker who Sportsmail can reveal requested a transfer hours after his decisive penalty miss in the UEFA Super Cup final against Bayern Munich. The day after the 5-4 shoot-out defeat in Prague back in August, Lukaku asked to move from Stamford Bridge as he felt unable to compete with Fernando Torres, Demba Ba and Samuel Eto’o. The request was turned down but, three days later, Mourinho allowed Lukaku to join Everton on loan and he has scored seven Premier League goals since — compared to Torres, Ba and Eto’o, who have four between them. We either get lewandowski or someone similar in the summer and sell Lukaku, or we get rid of Torres and we no longer have that pressure of starting the lad who deserves to be starting. At 20+ years of age he needs to understand where he is in the pecking order, regardless of how bad or not he thinks the other strikers are playing, he is a raw talent with only a season at WBA in terms of PL experience and limited internationals against the experience of Torres, Ba and Eto' he needs to learn from at least two players Torres and Eto who were once deemed to be among the greatest strikers on the planet, they did their 'apprenticeship' as Lukaku has to do his before he can claim the number 9 shirt. And if he indeed did ask for a transfer then that shows you he has no mettle to fight for a chance to play in this team. He can stay at Everton for all I care, he will never win f**k all in that blue shirt..
November 30, 201312 yr Don't blame him to be honest...best striker in preseason, doesn't start a game before end of window, even watches ba get a chance and then sees eto'o join...wouldn't you be pissed off and want to leave...will always love Jose but he's the one that has been left with egg on his face given Lukaku has more league goals than our three strikers have put together
November 30, 201312 yr Brit, I understand what your saying but like everything in this world you have to earn it and he hasn't earned it whereas Torres and Eto have. Ever been overlooked for promotion or didn't get the job even though you were more qualified than others, yes pisses you off but that's life, suck it up and work harder to prove yourself to those who think you are lesser than others. Yes he scored 17 goals for WBA in the PL but teams playing against WBA and even Everton play a different game than against us and perhaps Jose' and even Emenalo saw that he wasn't ready yet for 'this' team, he is a gifted player no doubt. But what he has done now is alienate himself from his parent club and pissed the manager off and perhaps other members of management. I don't think Jose would have said half of what he said today had he not been upset so something clearly has irritated him. I would not be surprised if Lukaku had half a brain that he would pick up the phone to apologise to the club or explain what he actually said if he was misquoted. If he did ask for a transfer then I suspect his agent had a lot to do with it, anyway hopefully calmer waters are ahead.
November 30, 201312 yr But like Sturridge, how long is he supposed to wait?..and eto'o was signed after the season had started and without giving Lukaku a chance...plus as I said its World Cup year...he couldn't afford to spend the season getting bits and pieces...he wants to start games for Belgium and is in competition with benteke...being made fourth choice at the club for no understandable reason, it's no wonder he asked to leave...as for his comments, I don't think what he said was that bad...maybe he was a big silly to say he's not spoken to anyone at the club, but he did also say he still aims to play for chelsea
November 30, 201312 yr Chances are that if Lukaku keeps scoring for Everton and remains sour with Chelsea,he will be sold, but not to Everton as they couldnt afford him.No player is bigger than the club.I think he would have benefitted from a season playing with the likes of Torres and Eto,o but he chose to go on loan.A very good prospect and i hope he returns, but if not he will be sold to the highest bidder imo.
November 30, 201312 yr we have lukaku wanting to be a legend....we have Torres who was a legend..weve had forwards sold n loaned out that couldnt score for us regularly....but...regularly score freely now...perhaps we should be looking at our system of play....players who are gone out are now happy n smiling....gotta be something wrong here
November 30, 201312 yr He is going to be a fantastic player for us but Jose was right to do what he did. We can't have him or anyone getting too big for their boots. Jose had planned to keep him until he decided he couldn't compete with the other 3 after he missed a penalty in Prague. Little did he know that he was in Jose's plans and Ba was to be loaned out. Why would he feel that he can't compete with the others? You don't automatically walk into a team... You earn your place. That said he is going to be a top player for us but he needs to realise that we're one of the best teams in the world. You're no Drogba at the moment and competition is inevitable.
November 30, 201312 yr If he misses the pen against Bayern and then asks to leave then I'd have sold him. Mental weakness. Here is the best explanation you will probably hear: i dont think the issue is that lukaku did anything like misbehaving, more that he asked to go out on loan, rather than stay and be a squad player. maybe Jose was relying on him being an impact player, and couldnt guarantee him starts but still wanted him to stick around and fight for his place. im guesing that jose just feels like lukaku took the easy way out, or maybe just feels that lukaku didnt show the right mentality/team loyalty to stick around and fight like others have. dont blame either one of them, you can see it from either point of view. jose wants the strongest squad possible, but big Rom wanted to be playing regularly
November 30, 201312 yr Both are in the wrong a bit, but we are clearly mugs for loaning him out again. Seriously, what other club In the league would buy a player for 18M and just loan him straight out, twice without getting half a proper chance. We knrw this wouod.come back to bite us and now its possible that we'll have disillusioned him and pushed bim away. The whole situation is a farce.
November 30, 201312 yr According to Guardian today he asked for a transfer, Jose wanted him to stay and fight for his place. The loan deal looks like a compromise. Don't really blame the boy, it's a world cup year so he needs to be playing. Would have had him over Eto any day.
November 30, 201312 yr http://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/nov/29/jose-mourinho-romelu-lukaku-chelsea-everton Good article on it
November 30, 201312 yr I can see why he would want to leave, but at the same time, if you believed in your ability would you look at an Eto'o who has just come from Anzhi, an out of form Ba... and Torres and think, "I won't be able to force my way into this side"
November 30, 201312 yr Interesting story. No big deal. Frankly I understand his position. He'll be back next season
November 30, 201312 yr Interesting story. No big deal. Frankly I understand his position. He'll be back next season If he handed in a transfer-request on deadline day or the day before it certainly is a big deal. And if it is the case no wonder Jose is pissed.
November 30, 201312 yr I can see why he would want to leave, but at the same time, if you believed in your ability would you look at an Eto'o who has just come from Anzhi, an out of form Ba... and Torres and think, "I won't be able to force my way into this side" In theory yes, in Lukakus mind he knows Torres had been played in almost every single game despite being sh*t 80% of the time. Cant blame lukaku to be honest
