Lukaku to Everton

Featured Replies

That second goal was just mental. We all know a certain striker who used to make goals like that seem simple. Seriously, what a player! I just really hope that nobody of a higher stature than us come in for him, or he may well be gone (obviously we not in a pressurised situation to sell).

We've made some big balls ups in the striker department over the past few years, but not given Lukaku the proper chance he deserves would be the biggest.

I'm confident we'll have no regrets.

2 great goals! It is funny to see in the second goal how sure he is he's beaten the defender there although he is still very close. Brilliant result for Belgium as well beating Croatia away!

He is looking more and more like his idol Drogba. Can't deny really.

Btw he seems to score all his goals from a long ball or end of a long run. Chelsea's only scored those goals when we've counter attacked which is very rare in the league. Just saying we wouldn't be creating those chances to him. Actually the last Norwich game we did. He'd been great in that game.

I thought the defender chasing him for the second goal was hilarious.  Just gave up after the hand off with a "f**k this" look on his face as Lukaku strolled into goal.

to be fair that was mateo kovacic who plays as a nr 10. im not sure how many nr 10s would even bother chasing lukaku that far

I think these quotes are absolutely correct... What better way to prove JM wrong and earn his place as a guaranteed starter at a top club than scoring 25-30 goals for last years 6th place team and winning them CL football. It probably won't happen but it shows real ambition to succeed, something really lacking in our current strike force, Samuel "how much you gonna pay me" Eto'o, Fernando "I'm trying so hard" Torres, or Romelu "something to prove" Lukaku.

We answered etoo with "less than Inter" and he still rather came here.

Why did he leave Inter originally? Treble winner to unable to win the Russian PL Anzhi.

some fat spaniard came in and turned the club into a joke?

He had a contract, he may have been pushed but it still shows a complete lack of competitive ambition. Give me a young player who wants to prove himself any day of the week... Does Lukaku want Everton to finish higher than Chelsea? Damn right he does. He's on the way up on his career rather than living on his name.

I'm probably the only one but I think Lukaku being loaned out was a good decision.

He is playing so comfortably for Everton with little pressure and has all the time in the world, that's great for him. Where at Chelsea there is a lot more pressure on him and a lot more contenders and people to please. I don't think he is ready yet for top flight football, perhaps next season, I think that's the only disadvantage for him being so damn young.

The pundits rarely think of what will happen next season, they fail to think that squads change, I can't see Ba and Eto'o here next season. It doesn't mean we will go off and buy another striker, the more Lukaku impresses the more we are going to look to building the team around him or make space for him.

I really doubt having him here would've been a good choice, he wouldn't score as much and he wouldn't play as much, at his age he needs to get many games and perferably games without the pressure so he can develope. Lukaku isn't at his best yet, he still has time, next season we should be looking to fitting him in the squad, I just don't see the big deal in loaning him out so much this season, especially with the amount of forwards we have.

Whats that got to do with taking a pay cut to play for us???? And taking less offered money from Inter?? He chose the more competitive club, just like you'd want. He is a stop gap so completely different to a player that we will rely on in the future.

Temp player, stop gap. You are so riled up on a player who unlike torres has pretty much zero chance of outliving his welcome, and when Lukaku comes back will be gone. There are better things to moan about.

Don't buy this, it's the same at every big club (There's a lot more pressure at United for example) and yet they still manage to bring through/play youngsters just fine. That's what the management is for, to keep them grounded and focused.

I agree loaning him out was for the best, I just don't follow that reasoning.

It's not the point I'm making. Why do we need a stop gap? Our best striker, regardless of age, experience, wages, previous transfer costs, previous ability is Romelu Lukaku. If he remains at his current level and NEVER improves he is still preferable to any striker we have on the books right now. I don't give a fudge about Eto'o or not. He's a Chelsea player and deserves our support but the board look ridiculous with the decision to loan Lukaku out and selling Sturridge.

I was responding to you calling etoo "how much are you going to pay me". It was an incorrect accusation to make. Say what you want about his ability but I don't think you can say he came here for the money.

It's annoying that we let him go, but would we rather he did poorly? If he doesn't score another goal all season surely we'd be in a worse position?

I hope he scores loads
