Lukaku to Everton

Featured Replies

This guy is our best and only striker pity we cant get him back in January and everton will not let him go. In the end i think he might get fed up and leave what else does he have to do the prove he deserve a change look at Sturrige prime example.

Next season will have quite a few players with 2 years left on their contracts,Mata,Lukaku ,Courtois ,Torres .If they dont renew the contracts then they will be probably sold(Torres hopefully).

I really do hope torres is the only one who doesnt sign but judging by his wages no one else will take him so wishful thinking i feel.

^ Think we are in a weak position contractually (2yrs left end of the season) unless we can convince him to sign a new contract. Reckon we might get a forward in come Jan but definitely in the Summer, ala a Rooney or Falcao. Would he want to come back & play 2nd/3rd fiddle considering Torres is going nowhere? Riaola will most likely be touting him to Juve.

Yeah........and hopefully his name is Romelu Lukaku.

Not trying to put him down in any way, but he seems to drop right off in the 2nd half of games. Not sure if its down to fitness, concentration or teams sussing him out after 45. I'm maybe being harsh as it has only been 3 games he's started for Everton.

I think it's fitness, or rather stamina.  Seems like he isn't used to playing a full 90 minutes.  He can also be very wasteful in possession.  There are weaknesses to his game which he can iron out, but he was great again today in the first half.

I'm guessing it's down to age. In premier league terms he's still a kid, playing against men who have reached their physical peak. He often came on as a sub last season when opponents were tired. Of course he's a beast physically but his body is still acclimatising to the rigours of the Prem. His stamina will build up a lot this season, and when it does he will be seriously scary. As a physical specimen and in terms of strength Drogba was about as good as it gets. He was 26 or 27 when he joined.

It does look a stamina thing, a lad that big will tire. Maybe he needs a good season long loan at a top half club to build it ready to lead the line for us.

But even on FM lukakou is better than the alt' options...

In my save at 23 Lukaku is ane of the best players in the world, and hes also my captain

If you are correct and Lukaku ran out of steam what's the excuse for the rest of the Everton team ?

I think it may well just be a stamina thing. I remember the Newcastle game where the commentators were waxing lyrical about his technique but he must have given the ball away a dozen times in the last half hour. Hopefully it's something he improves on throughout the season.

He ran out of steam against Newcastle too. I'm sure it will be remedied soon the more starts he gets. It's only natural he's going to get tired.

He just came 2nd in the World Player of the Year behind Messi. 42 goals for the season. Hope his stats are increased a little in FM 14.

'I did not know if I would be playing for Chelsea so I asked the manager to let me leave. We spoke and I told him, It's unfair to criticise Mourinho for letting me go because it was my decision.

'He knows what he is doing. He has won so many titles and I have too much respect for him to wish anything but the best, but there comes a point where you must think about yourself to show everyone that you can shine and be one of the best strikers in the league.

'I could have stayed and fought, but it was not about the competition. When you are a 20-year-old you need minutes. I lost my place in the national team because I did not play for a year with Chelsea.

'I want that position back. I want to be in a top team and play. You only get better if you play so the best thing was to leave.

'He'd called me into his office 10 days before the end of the window. I did not want to tell him what I wanted to do at that point, but he was very open and direct.

'I always wanted to work under him and even the time in pre-season he taught me lots I'm grateful for but I had to make a choice.'

He'll be back before long, the club aren't stupid.

Hmmm, i do wonder sometimes though...

Also,

i remember reading (not sure if it has been posted in here or not), but the deal is for a season long loan.  No option for Lukaku to come back here in January.

WE've also got Patrick Bamford scoring for fun this season at MK Dons

I think its neither. Everton struggle second halves. He can only play with what he's given.

My mate was at the last home match and he said its very noticeable how his running dropped of in the 2nd half. He was much more static wanting the ball to feet rather than running into space or the channels.

It's something that I think we'll get to see more of this season (re: Lukaku's fitness).  If he can't last a whole game, then he was rightly sent on loan.  If he improves as the season goes on, then that's a good thing.  If he continues to be Romelu "one half" Lukaku, then that is a worrying thing.

I do too, with some of the decisions we have made in recent years you do wonder if they know what they are doing.

He looked very lazy at times in second half.

i think he still needs to lose some weight. He will always struggle to last for the full 90 with that amount of muscle
