July 24, 201411 yr Can you provide any stats on those ;) Lukaku probably isnt a bad spud all said and done, but he is the Harry Redknapp of football players. He'd give an interview to anyone, and nearly all the time its to sulk. Its all me me me.
July 24, 201411 yr I think that some people might be of the mindset to find offence in anything Lukaku says or does. He gets slammed left right and centre for supposedly having a bad attitude, and now it turns out he's been doing extra training (presumably in an effort to be in the best possible shape to impress José in pre-season, surely that's a good thing?) he still gets slated for it.
July 24, 201411 yr Currently, Lukaku is in no win situation. No matter what he says or do some asshole will twist his words or criticize him for getting into shape, I feel.
July 24, 201411 yr Wow, I really don't get some of the hate on here for Lukaku. Give the kid a break. People are already preparing for his move away from the club and getting the hate narrative started early.
July 24, 201411 yr Next week Lukaku is coming home. Well prepared, ready to show his skills & starts popping goals in. Lol.
July 24, 201411 yr I think there's a common misconception that the majority of the Belgian national team are arrogant and cocky so and so's. So anything Lukaku says is usually taken negatively, somewhat unfairly imo. He's still young and he likes to speak his mind sometimes guilty of speaking too much but ffs give the kid a break. He's on holiday and he's participating in training with his old team if anything it seems like a nice gesture and is good to see he remembers his roots.
July 24, 201411 yr People are already preparing for his move away from the club and getting the hate narrative started early. No they aren't.
July 24, 201411 yr Currently we have only 2 'recognised & experienced' strikers on the books - Costa & Torres, 3 is a minimum requirement for a club involved in prem, LC, CL & FAC ; four is a sensible number as a contingency to injuries , suspensions etc. FFP is a big factor, the club got 50 mill from Luiz & 5 for BA and has spent about 75 mill in the window (Fabergas, Costa, Luiz and some cheaper U-21s) and offloaded SFL & Coleys's wages. Torres is not going anywhere. Another factor is the PL & CL home grown quota to which Lukaku's presence at the club contributes to. IMO Lukaku is not going anywhere unless another striker target has been identified and then he may be sold to fund that replacement. Dont think IF the Drog returns it would sway the manager or the player as he would be bench warming anyway as the # 4 striker. As for Everton buying him my understanding is that they are on the brink financially and 20 mill would be a big stretch for them to outlay on 1 player. So what if hes chopsy, at least hes got some spirit. Lots of players work on their fitness prior to the required return date fairplay to him. In watching him at WBA & Everton IMO hes ready for his chance, hope he takes it. Edited July 24, 201411 yr by General
July 24, 201411 yr Bobby, You better wait until next week, then you can see him play, I am confident he will be interviewed by Chelsea TV...

I think Costa, Torres, and Lukaku is plenty strong enough, when you consider we only play with 1 forward.

Or maybe he's doing extra training to stay in shape for a transfer. After all, he did put himself in the market with his comments before the world cup. I hope he does want to stay and fight, hopefully he can say something to that nature in the next week or so when he returns. if he doesn't want to stay then I wouldn't mind him leaving. July 24, 201411 yr Has there ever been an actual Chelsea player who has drawn so much interest and attention without doing a damn thing on the pitch?
July 24, 201411 yr lol. I think most fans want him to succeed to be honest, but his comments are annoying sometimes. Edited July 24, 201411 yr by cfc88
July 25, 201411 yr For me this scenario is how it is because: we bought a big Chelsea fan (according to him) at a young age with big money. We have waited for him to make an impact. He's been loaned out a couple of times and he's been a success. Our expectations towards him are huge because we see him as our new Drogba. We are Chelsea fans and we expect to get disappointed with strikers. Lukaku likes to run his mouth and he has made no efforts to correct anything he's said afterwards.
July 25, 201411 yr Agree with that. All I would like to hear him say is something along the lines of "I want to stay and help Chelsea win something at the end of the season". He needs to realise that Mourinho can change his mind even though we bought a new striker. At Madrid, Mourinho allowed an under-performing Benzema and Higuain to prove something to him. He also used them both effectively in their la liga win for the 2011/12 season. He also gave Ozil the opportunity to oust Kaka from the team, one season after he was bought for £56 million.
July 25, 201411 yr I wouldnt mind the interviw going something like this... Long-serving keeper Cech is set to battle Thibaut Courtois for the No.1 spot in the new season with Mourinho bringing the Belgian back from a successful loan stint at Atletico Madrid. Cech, who missed the back end of last season with a dislocated shoulder, made his return to action in the 1-1 pre-season draw with Wolfsberger in Austria on Wednesday and he is determined to keep his spot in the team ahead of Courtois. "I don't want to be on the bench," said Cech. "This is why I am trying to do everything to be in the team. "I don't want to talk about ifs and buts. Let’s see how I am going and what happens. "You know I always give my best and obviously that is all I can do. I will do my best and do everything I can do to be as ready as possible for when the season starts. "Every year there is a challenge. If you are going to be in the team you are going to have to do better than the other guys in the team. I think Mark Schwarzer, when he came last year, did remarkably well during the pre-season and when he played in any game he did very well, so I knew the challenge was there." Cech insists he is doing everything he can in pre-season to impress Mourinho as he looks to fight off the formidable challenge of Courtois. He added: "Obviously Jose Mourinho will make his choice and decide how his team is going to look for the first game, second game, third game, whatever game. "It is up to us players to show we are ready to play and make him pick us. I am not any different. I am doing everything I can to make him pick me." Some have class built in, Lukaku just needs to learn this.
July 25, 201411 yr ^ Oh how I love Petr! Look Romelu how far Petr has gone with his attitude and look at where you are now!!! Learn!
July 25, 201411 yr In all fairness, I think everyone could learn from the class Cech has displayed over the years.
July 25, 201411 yr That post made me do a quick search and his name has been spelled on this site as Lukaka, Lukuku, Lukalu, Lakuku, Lakaku and finally Lukaki. Imagine Lukalu, Kalouda, Kalou, and Malouda on the same team. Edited July 25, 201411 yr by PraetorianGuard
July 25, 201411 yr So guys which will it be; Drogba sparks Lukaku to stay or Lukaku gets scared and runs home to his mom?
