Oscar is needed in games like Arsenal away for his ability to press players and win the ball back and start counter attacks! something Matic cant do! that is why Oscar would have made a difference yesterday, he is not a number 10, he is a box to box midfielder who enjoys to defend as much as he like to attack, its ridiculous to suggest Oscar wouldnt have made a difference when you look at how pathetic Matic has been

Oscar would of made no difference, played great against Liverpool.

Nope and I'll doubt Chelsea will get top 4 with Oscar playing. Don't worry we have Oscar, played as a number 10 his whole Chelsea career but his a runner and has a high amount of tackles per game so his in the team. We already have Kante, Matic and Willian who all do the same, wow that's a frightening midfield ;)

Oscar isn't being used as an attacking player by Conte, hes a central midfielder with both attacking and defensive responsibilities, so his tackling is important.

And here's me thinking we had Matic and Kante who were supposed to be specialists in defending/tackling/winning the ball back, and our #10 was supposed to actually create something.

None of them have been able to defend properly this season. Kante looked like a child against Arsenal yesterday.
Another big problem is that neighter of them is even a decent passer of the ball so they aren't able to properly feed our wingers, striker or Fabregas what they need. When Fabregas is pushed up and behind the striker we need to have a deep lying player who can actually pass and find him.

Oscar is not a number 10! As he said himself his original position was a box to box midfielder and before this season was played out of position at Chelsea

I don't care what he is, he has played as a number 10 his whole Chelsea career and attacki be wise  he don't do enough, if that's a number 10, 6 or 2.

Problem with Kante yesterday was he was running around everywhere like a headless chicken. He should of just sat in front of the back 4 and blocked everything. Covered the runs from midfield etc.

I think thats what he was supposed to do first and foremost. With Matic between him and Fabregas. So just slightly ahead of Kante so to say.

Kante was just horrible. Almost offensivly bad, go watch 3-0 again and look at him.

Ok he doesn't do enough. Chelsea in my eyes play with 4 players who are better defensively than attacking wise and I don't see any other top team do that. That's the clear difference I see between Chelsea and the others.

yes we didnt get battered against Liverpool, Oscar made as many tackles as Kante and Matic combined against Liverpool

And we avoided defeat!

I agree, not sure what Kante's role is, the all out ball winner or the anchor man? Looking at the third goal, he could have stayed with Ozil, who wouldn't beat him by pace. By committing into the challenge early, Ozil easily got around him, and game over.

 

As for Oscar, he wouldn't have made a difference to the result based on his performance in the last 2 seasons. We will wait for a long time to see the repeat of that wonder goal against Juventus.

This is certainly the problem. Too many offensive players programmed to defend in big games when the best form of defence is to attack.

Oscar would have made a difference.

Looked so weak tonight. 

Really think he shouldve been sold in the summer, the last time he put in a real perfomance was the start of the 2013/14 season. 

Just doesnt cut it for me.

He was poor. Usually i would put it down to lack of games but tonight's performance was like the majority of his performances for us in his Chelsea career.
