Oscar - Little Diamond

Featured Replies

nutmeg backheel to ivanovic was fun to watch.  He also led the team in tackles and every single one of them was huge.  Also broke up a fair few counters with a quick foul before it got into yellow card territory.

Would* of had a penalty if he didnt make such a deal of it.

I doubt it, we always get denied penalties, we seem to get into double figures every season for clear penalties being denied. We actually should have had 3 on the night, they were all clear to see. I don't think it matters if Oscar was a bit over the top with how he went down, a foul is a foul, it should have still been given.

Was he that good?!

He worked hard. Very hard. But he didnt do anything different with the ball that I havent seen in last 4 years.

He had a very good game, was pressing and winning the ball back really high up the pitch.

Did some neat passes too.

Wasn't a spectacular performances but definitely one worthy of praise. Looked a lot more effective in the three man midfield than he often has playing behind the striker.

I think we need both Oscar and Cesc this season. In some games we need Oscar doing what he did against WHU and maybe in the games when the oppo just sits deep we can use Cesc's passing and controlling abilities. Cesc has something that only a handful of players have, Oscar has a great engine.

Yeah i agree with the work rate for sure. And the deeper role does suit more because he has more time. Just dont think he offered any more/less attacking threat than ive seen form him before.

Its not the best idea when we start really praising our players for working hard. Under Conte it will be a minimum.

Surely those 2 games was enough for Conte to realise what kind of player Oscar is. He played well against West Ham, and then has a shocker against Watford. It's the type of player he is, he look's good one minute, then bad the next. It's the story of Oscar's career so far.

Still think he has his uses as a squad player but he is never consistent enough to start too many games or last for 90 minutes. If a club are prepared to cough up £30m + we have to be accepting it.

I know both Oscar and Matic had less than impressive games but Oscar is an attacking midfielder so the onus is on him to make things happen. Fabregas has to start ahead of him. Was really hoping the Inter rumours were true earlier in the month. Sadly, he seems to win over all the coaches with his grafting and he continues to play.

Did he play well against West Ham though scott? I remember one flash back heel that came off (for a change), lots of running about and lots of giving the ball away (as always)

Guess we forget all the good moments.

I don't know... I'd like to see him in and around the box, taking shots, scoring goals, being a threat. Too often it's either him being invisible or just about defensive work.

Shame, because be can be so much better than what he is.

Anyone can look good when you edit out all the crap...Oscar is the epitome of the YouTube player...a short highlight reel and it all looks magic...but there have been several hundred hours of crap left on the cutting room floor to make it, which is a more telling reflection of the quality of his contribution over the years

I do agree with that, in all honesty, but he did have moments of great quality and score some timely goals. Also quite important during the first half of 14/15 season title where he was one of the stand-out players.

I guess my own patience with him had run out a while ago and I'd actually forgotten the bit of good that he has done at the club. I called him the Brazilian Dirk Kuijt in another thread, but I take that back. He's shown a bit more quality than that.

I thought Dirk Kuyt was an underrated player, the guy worked his fricking socks off in a position that wasn't even natural for him

My labrador runs around a lot too, better first touch than Kuyt also.
