I'm still not sure of playing him in the pivot, he's great defensively as an attacking mid but not as a central one, not yet anyway. I'd much prefer to play him in his natural position.

I'd move Mata to the right. RDM did this and it seemed to be working fine. Mata on the right and Oscar in the middle is far better for the team than Mata in the middle and Oscar on the right imo. And its not as if they stay in their starting positions anyway.

 

There will be a lot of rotation next season though and I honestly do think Mourinho will get the best out of Oscar.

This is a good point, a lot of people seem reluctant to see mata move out wide. Is the object what's best of the indaviduale or best for the team? Mata also came in as a winger.

Any way, fear not... Lets forget about this double pivot.. and just play with an insurance policy and all we be great.

I think we need to get away from Mata central, Hazard left etc. Our 3 attacking maestros played all over the final 3rd of the pitch, they have the intelligence to know where space is, when to fill in, when to switch etc. Our formation can be fluid, And I believe this is the way football is going attack wise. Obviously it's different without the ball, structure and organisation is needed.

A mate just tried to tell me that Theo Walcott has more class than Oscar.

Oscar played as box to box midfielder in the U-21 games a year back. He was one of the best players in the tournament along with Neymar.

In yesterday's game he very much took the same role and started the attacks from a much deeper position closer to the end I think that is why Scolari has subbed him away most of the games as he longs to play that CM role lot more than the right wing he's started the games from. He's drifted out of position the the longer the games have went on and you know Scolari isn't a man who allows liberties.

People wanting Oscar to play the Pirlo role need to take a look at themselves.

He started in the pivot for us against Leeds away and he was good although obviously the opposition wasn't the best,Michael Brown lolz.

Oscar has great drive and vision going forward, he also does a good job as a first defender. His lack of muscles and the way he sometimes gives up on tracking players in his own half is a bit worrying though, if we were to play him deeper.

If you're referring to Lampard then he almost always had two midfielders to cover for him, in a 4-3-3 no less, where it's easier for midfielders to get forward without worry of leaving the defense exposed. In a pivot you start off deeper and and are burdened with more defensive responsibility. I should think that Oscar's best position is in a 4-3-3, however. It means that his tracking back and work rate are put to better use without nullifying any of his attacking qualities.

Lampard still scored a lot of goals last year and that's with Lampards ever decreasing pace, something which Oscar has in abundance. Oscar's tackling means he should be able to handle that part of the game and his pace mean he can get up and down, but more importantly his style suits that part of the pitch. He's very creative with short passes that move the ball around the pitch and stretch the opposition as well as being able to provide the killer ball. He'd help us keep the ball better in that area which we've lacked recently as well as moving the ball forward at the same time and creating space. I see a hell of a lot of positives with Oscar being played deeper, but he has to partnered with the right player and he has to work on certain aspects of his game, but I think it'll improve him as a player overall and it will massively improve us as a team.

 

The line-up that I think Zeta Orionis (I may be wrong) put up where I disagreed with Luiz being in midfield is a scary side to play against for really any team and is young as well. Replace De Rossi with whoever we may end up signing for that position and the same for Cavani, but I just put them in as we've been linked to them heavily, even though I doubt either will happen, now.

That is a top, top quality side that would be able to keep the ball when it needed, break quickly when it needed and more importantly would create chances, whilst not sacrificing too much defensively.
