Oscar - Little Diamond

Featured Replies

He's been most comfortable in the tournament playing lower in the midfield. He's been very eager to help defence and to be fair he's been good at it. He's given away a lot of freekicks as well which isn't good but he tries to tackle as the stats say. I've said it before but we could easily use Oscar as one of the two defensive midfielders in home games against one of the easier opponents. He is lot better in a central role instead of the wing.

Oscar is very tired, I think that affected his performance in the NT.

Yeah, he tackled and intercepted the ball a lot, but he was far from his level at Chelsea - which sort of reinforces the idea that if we want him to play deeper we should expect him to disappear.

He has decent passing - short and medium distance, as for long passes, it's hit or miss, but something I think Mourinho could help him develop.

I still think the closer to the attack he plays, the better results he brings.

It was like that in Internacional and in Brazil u21 NT. Playing him on DLP or DM would be a waste imo, but hey, I'm Brazilian, we think and see the sport forward... (except Scolari, that is)

I think if we expected him to be the best in the world there straight away we would be kidding ourselves. He would take time to learn the new position, and he has the skill set to make it his. Would love to see him play there more regularly for us this year, dropping back deeper once a game is secured, maybe.

I'm the first one to defend him when people compare his first season to Eden's. The transition from Brazilian football to European is very difficult because there are drastic changes that go from club structure to style and team mates quality.

He exceeded my expectations based on how difficult that transition can be and how young he is. I'd rate him as our 4th-5th best player now, but I think he has potential to be our 2nd better (Eden being the one with more potential imo).

Still having seen many of great matches by him as a #10 in Inter and Brazil (especially in the youngster teams), I would never move him to a deeper position, but I don't think he'd do bad there. It's just that he would deliver much better results as a CAM or playing more to the flanks.

I still think we should sign someone to be our DLP.

I hope Oscar takes a month or 2 vacation and misses both the Asian tour and the US tournament.

Maybe not that much as Jose has to see him, but I agree he needs an extended vacation.

So all of pre-season then... The bit players use to get fit for the forthcoming season.

Didnt Mata get a rest last season early on? It did wonders for him.

Well, technically both Hazard and Mata did.  (Hazard suspension)

He did, but the olympics were held later in the summer by about one and a half months. I think the full squad (bar any injuries) will be together for the US tour, that's a month of vacation even for our four finalists.

Oscar is gradually adapting to Premiership football.

I expect marked improvement from him next season.

He has shown in the big games he can step up.

He performs quite well when he drops back into deeper midfield positions.

He did a very good job on Pirlo in the game against Juventus.

He is a tremendous talent and has the potential to become a Chelsea legend.

I believe Mourinho will get the best out of him.

Didnt they all get another 2 to 3 weeks off. So i would guess that they will link up with the rest of the squad when they return from this tour.

Yeah, someone said 28th.

Mourinho stated he will use Mata on the right of a front three.

He may use Oscar as an attacking midfielder behind the striker.

Oscar has the ability to get back, win the ball and linkup with Mata and Hazard.

Perhaps Mourinho will deploy him as our No 10.

He is known to appreciate midfielders who track back and put in a good shift.
