Top 5 defenders under Abramovich?

Featured Replies

Oiy.... define defenders! There's defensive midfielders, goalkeepers, full backs, centre backs... The back four of Paulo, Carvalho, JT and Gallas was pretty immense but that had a lot to do with Maka.

JT, Cole, Carvalho, Ivanovic, Ferreira. not a great amount to choose from really. Gallas should probably be in there, but i couldnt bring myself to praise him after his subsequent transfers. #Judas

Terry

Carvalho

Cole

Gallas

Ferreira

With the crap we have had at RB over the past few seasons it does make me wonder why Ferreira has had so few appearances in his time here. I rate Ferreira far better defensively than Bosingwa and Belletti that's for sure. Even going forward i think he has been ok.

Pretty much full backs and centre backs. Defensive midfielders are considered, well, midfielders.

I was merely saying there are a lot of players who aid a defence. It wasn't a question because I didn't put a question mark. I knew he meant defenders, hence me replying with, well, defenders.

Apologises jmaher94 - I was just saying there are lots of contributing factors which can make a defender look a-mazing when they're not :) I'd still stick with my choice but would be interesting if my opinion would remain so if they didn't have Maka.

Does make for an interesting discussion.

Not a problem, I didn't explain it very well lol, my apologies for the confusion but I do agree with the Maka debate, would we have been as solid in defence without him? Debatable..

I put Ash ahead of JT because the man simply does not make mistakes (i'm sure someone will now quote me with a video of him making one, but it is far less common than probably any other defender in world football over the past decade).

If he makes a mistake against Southampton i am holding you responsible for it
