May 27, 201313 yr You're forgetting Moses as well, Marin who's still technically on our books and Schurrle, who we'll most likely be signing. I have little doubt that, given time, KDB could transform into that deeper lying player that we're all craving for. I'm not sure of this Van Ginkel lad though, does he even play in a pivot? I feel someone like Jordy Clasie (as mentioned) would be better for us. I think Moses have been mediocre this season and I never wanted us to buy Marin in the first place, clearly not good enough. We still haven't signed Schurrle, but I wouldn't be suprised if we signed him or another am/winger this summer. I still think we need five quality attacking midfielders, covering three positions, considering the ammount of games, possible injurys and suspension. Edited May 27, 201313 yr by comtrend
May 27, 201313 yr I see this as an Emenalo signing in which he will be loaned out and see how he develops. If he does stay and plays in the pivot i would of much rather we played Oscar or KDB instead.

We would have exactly five if we signed Schurrle. KDB may get game time both there and in the pivot, we have plenty of games next season to share about.

Hazard, Mata, Oscar, Moses and KdB. In our current system that would be enough for me, especially as Bayer are proving hard to deal with it seems. If Jose puts us back to the 4-3-3 though I believe Oscar and Mata would be best served in the middle 3. That is where things might become interesting lol.
May 27, 201313 yr I'm a big fan of Van Ginkel, I've always wanted him if we failed to get a top class CM like Moutinho. Think he has very good attributes that could help him become a top player, main reason why I bothered watching Vitesse. Ideally, I would love for us to sign him, sell Mikel and rotate him with KDB for that pivot role. That's not what would happen though, unfortunately. Still, for the price mentioned we would be crazy not to snap him up. He's quality and can only get better. Disagree about Clasie, now admittedly I haven't seen much of him this season but even last season when he was being hyped up he didn't look as good as Van Ginkel did this season. He's also 5ft 6 or something and easy to shrug off the ball, Van Ginkel is just as good with the added bonus of being better defensively and being 6ft 1.

May 27, 201313 yr If we're getting anyone from Vitesse it'll probably be that Bony bloke who always seems nothing special.

May 27, 201313 yr i thought bony to west ham was a done deal? If they are signing him with Caroll at £15m, it all doesn't add up. p.s. Wasn't there a rumour a few seasons back about us funding West Ham's bid for Neymar?
May 27, 201313 yr jose + young signings = long term stay How do you come up with this? Jose only buys for the now and you need your head looking at.

June 6, 201313 yr Looked really good in the middle with Strootman today, very composed and assured in possession (box-to-box midfielder) with bags of potential. If we do sign him makes more sense to loan him out to a Leverkusen or Dortmund and bring back De Bruyne
June 7, 201313 yr Sounds like Piet De Visser has been helping us scout this guy, he found De Bruyne for us, so I think we should do the same thing with Van Ginkel. Buy him for £7mil-£8mil and send him to a club in germany for a year :)
June 7, 201313 yr sounds like a very good idea to buy him and loan him out to Germany for a season or two depending on his progression. We can then bring back KDB and with news of Galatasray asking about Mikel ( hopefully we sell him to them), we can bring him back or compare him and Romeu ( also should be sent out of loan) and pick the best for Mikel's role.

June 7, 201313 yr Never heard if him looks very attacking from the YouTube clips, is he a DM? Cause that's what we need not another CM/AM Edited June 7, 201313 yr by Bobbywoodhogan
June 7, 201313 yr Never heard if him looks very attacking from the YouTube clips, is he a DM? Cause that's what we need not another CM/AM He's box-to-box apparently. Similar to how De Bruyne plays in central midfield is what I'm lead to believe, but I haven't seen him first hand (other than last night) so I'm just basing it on other peoples' reviews of him. I'm guessing the plan is to buy him cheap, loan him out and see how he develops.

I'd say it's relatively close to KDB's playing style, though, for the moment at least, Van Ginkel is better defensively. Both are good passers and finishers but KDB is an excellent crosser of the ball. Edited June 7, 201313 yr by Teritus
