July 17, 20197 yr I'm on my tablet and can't figure out how to cut and paste a website But I found a Dutch site that says a transfer is upcoming for Van Ginkel, possibly Derby now that former PSV manager Philip Cocu has been appointed manager there. Van Ginkel has been on loan to PSV for a few seasons. 'Transfer op komst voor pechvogel Marco van Ginkel'
July 17, 20197 yr He was PSV captain wasn';t he? Be surprised if he doesn't make a permanent move there.

I always wondered why Chelsea just didn't sell him to PSV. He seemed happy there and during the times he wasn't injured, important enough for the team to make him captain. Guy does have skills & I can see why he was the Captain of PSV, who won the Eredivisie that season. I remember MvG looking great for Milan as well. I was shocked they didn't buy him from us.
April 1, 20206 yr I'd love to see this guy involved if and when he recovers, he was fantastic for PSV prior to his injury. At 27 we can still have some good years out of him.
June 26, 20206 yr 8 seasons that'll be at the club apparently and he's only played a handful of times. Strange to think we've had him so long and still know so little about him.
June 26, 20206 yr what a pointless contract, he'll inevitably get loaned out. Aren't there now loan rules as well which means we can only loan out a certain number of players anyway? Seems like a waste to have MVG as one of them when realistically he'll never play for us.

Think we are just doing right by him in the current climate. He might have struggled to get a new club, given his injury record and inability to prove his fitness. The club are just looking after him, gives him chance to prove his fitness and hopefully find a club he can gain some momentum with. He only cost £8m which we have probably already made back in loan fees, so financially i dont think its an issue to keep him around. We looked after Sam Hutchinson aswell throughout his injury hit career.
June 26, 20206 yr A few weeks ago I read an interview with Van Ginkel. He was in negotiation with the club at the time, and was very pleased and grateful that he was offered a contract extension.

I like it as the club is carrying out their duty of care and not chucking them out as soon as they're not deemed Chelsea quality. Being a Chelsea player makes you more sought after as well so it's never really an issue to get loan offers. All this may change in the future though as there is going to be a new rule that is going to limit the amount of players a club can loan out per season.
June 26, 20206 yr Saw this on twitter, translated from an interview he did in Holland I think. “I worked really hard to come back and can now handle 4 or 5 training sessions a week. In March I was almost ready to join the group and I was allowed to enter duels in training, but then Corona took hold. Maybe I'll be able to take part in a game a few more times this summer. If I succeed, I expect to return to Chelsea under 23 in the short term. Otherwise I will be transfer-free in the summer and we will look further.”

Yeah thats fair enough, but I just don't see how we're gonna comply with loan rules when we are already at limit for how many we can have.
June 27, 20206 yr Such an unfortunate turn of events for him. If he didn't had the acl injury back when he was starting for Jose, he might even be one of our starting players
January 13, 20215 yr Glad to see. Will most probably never feature for us but a nightmare seems to be ending for Marco.
January 14, 20215 yr It’s really sad, he could have had a great career and he must of had the talent, I remember he was highly rated.
January 14, 20215 yr Wow, has it really been nearly three years since he captained PSV to the Eredivisie title? Poor bar steward, I hope the latter part of his career is more enjoyable for him.
January 14, 20215 yr Remember when Jose was beginning to replace Lamps with van Ginkel in 13/14? That first injury really changed everything..

Yeah the timing of his injury was so unfortunate. It was when we had a few other i juries and he was set for a good run in the team.
