November 7, 201411 yr I have a feeling his time has been and gone and it's just down to bad luck with the injuries. I can't see him pushing Cesc, Matic or Ramires out the midfield. Hope I'm wrong and he get's his chance and takes it.
January 7, 201511 yr Is he still injured? I noticed he hasn't played for Milan in the last two months at all.
January 7, 201511 yr He's a fantastic player, unfortunately for him injuries are setting him back. As for his loan at Milan, he's been injured so he couldn't play. Not that I think he would have played much at Milan anyway. I agree. We definitely should have kept him here.
January 7, 201511 yr I wouldn't go as far to say his time has been and gone... Lamps wasn't exactly setting the world alight at 22 either. Had he stayed here I'd like to think he would have started v Southampton (given Ramires wasn't fully match fit and from a tactical perspective we didn't need a second holding mid). Too early to be writing him off... the potential is there. Edited January 7, 201511 yr by the special one
January 7, 201511 yr Talked to a friend of mine who follows Milan and he was very impressed with him. Said he looked to be among their best central midfielders. Hard to blame anyone for his lack of playing time when he keeps getting injured
January 24, 201511 yr Van Ginkel started in Milan's 1-3 loss to Lazio, played about 55 minutes before being subbed off. Maybe it was a bad idea to loan him to a team that is currently in such a predicament. I think a loan to a premier league team would have done him better than Milan.

Koeman is a Dutch manager who knows him well from the Eredivisie and will probably give him chances. If Schneiderlin or Wanyama goes he could be an option for them.
January 24, 201511 yr Shame he's gone on loan, we could have done with him in midfield. We're short in DM'z.s.

January 24, 201511 yr Good point. Koeman somehow managed to turn the flop Elia into a good winger. Indeed. Just like Graziano Pelle was terrible anywhere he played and became the best and most scoring striker in the Dutch league (although that isn't the most competitive in Europe haha) with Feyenoord, and now is doing pretty well in Southampton. I really believe in Van Ginkel, so it could be a great chance for him. Hopefully Koeman thinks the same.
January 25, 201511 yr are a team that could potentially be tital rivals in the not so distant future going to want to help us out though by loaning Van Ginkel if that was an option? I doubt it
January 25, 201511 yr are a team that could potentially be tital rivals in the not so distant future going to want to help us out though by loaning Van Ginkel if that was an option? I doubt it I don't believe they are going to be title rivals and I don't consider it as helping out, because I think Van Ginkel can be a great addition to their team. This season they got Alderweireld, Elia and Bertrand from loan too. Doesn't seem they have a problem with loaning players and I don't see that change because they are doing great this season. :)
March 17, 201511 yr What was the point of his loan again? We could really use him right about now. To give him a year of football after his injury. Unfortunately he got injured again, although he seems to have been unlucky rather than injury-prone.
March 17, 201511 yr I don't recall him getting much injuries prior to his major one with us, most likely reoccurring knocks which happen after a long time out.
April 5, 201511 yr He started and played the full match in Milan's win over Palermo yesterday. Anyone watch him?
April 6, 201511 yr Wish he'd stayed. I don't believe he wanted the move either. Ramires, Fabregas, Oscar, Van Ginkel, Matic, Mikel. 6 players for 3 slots. With Mikel's injuries, Oscar's form and Ramires' one dimensional style, I think he could have been useful.
April 6, 201511 yr I think he can still have a future here. He looked good in pre-season.Very combative and not afraid of getting stuck in. He could sit next to Matic with Fabregas moved to #10
April 6, 201511 yr I'd pick RLC over Van Ginkel. Why choose? We can have them both for depth next season (1 foreign and 1 homegrown).
April 6, 201511 yr Pity about his injuries, he was a good mix of Lampard and Essien and would have made that spot next to Matic his own. Just can't see him making it here now and with Fabregas, potentially RLC and Ake coming in to add to that position I really don't see a spot for him.
April 20, 201511 yr Started last 5 games for Milan now, I believe. Full 90s as well. Must be doing reasonbly well at least, it seems. Edited April 20, 201511 yr by GhostOfDembaPast
April 20, 201511 yr Started last 5 games for Milan now, I believe. Full 90s as well. Must be doing reasonbly well at least, it seems. We've looked light on quality and options at times this season in the middle, if van Ginkel can finish the season strongly we might be able to save a few quid this summer by bringing him back.
