I'm not really for or against this signing tbh,good player but nothing special but gives us another option in a weak area in our squad.

We have plenty of options, but Jose isn;t using them.

Must admit I haven't watch much since he joined Inter. But I seem to remember him essentially playing the Ramires shuttler role at Porto. We already have one of those. We need someone to be the Moutinho equivalent from that Porto team.

Essien could play in a more defensive role, allowing Lampard & Ramires to play further forward, rather than playing with 2 holding midfielders, which is a crap system anyway.

Van Ginkel will be an option next year when he's back from injury

Chalobah could be given a chance in DM

Mikel could sit in DM, allowing Lampard & Ramires, or Oscar & Ramires, or KDB & Oscar, or KDB and Ramires, or KDB and Lampard, or Lampard & Essien, or KDB & Essien, or any combination of CMs to play slightly ahead.

 

But yes, let's buy ANOTHER player instead of utilising who we have.

Unless we buy other players we have to play 4-2-3-1.

I have no disagreed with saying KDB will leave, I think he will. But giving the reasons for him leaving as him wanting to play games, just further highlights that Jose is not making the most of our squad. KDB is a very good player and could easily be getting games for us, but Jose won;t play him.

 

I don't see what football manager games have to do with this conversation? They do seem to get brought up a lot though, I assume it's some attempt to demean someone's opinion? (For the record, I have no idea how good Oscar is in CM on football manager, I only play non-league teams).

 

I can probably count on the fingers of one hand the number of games Mikel has played at DM and looked significantly better than what Luiz can offer, and that's covering his whole career at Chelsea.

 

He may do, but he would still offer us a more direct switch from defence to attack than Mikel or Essien can do.

Come on mate, we are dying for some extra bodies in CM. Dying. Its totally affecting how this team plays, and how Jose wants this team to play. Jose sees these players every day, he wouldve tried some somebody else if he thought they were up to it.

We certainly could do with improving our midfield options, Mikel has been rubbish the last five or so games he has played and our over reliance on Ramires is embarrassing

Problem is Guarin is essentially another Ramires; another box to box player which won't make any sense, there are decent DMs out there in the market.

Another Ramires is better than what we have already.

I'm sorry but anyone who thinks KdB hasn't been given ample opportunity to prove himself is delusional. We all wanted the Kdb thing to work out but he just isn't good enough and last night, like the other times he has played this season, has proved that. Sell in January and bring in a proper holding midfielder please.

Harsh but you cant really argue. I dont know any Chelsea fan who didnt want KDB to come in and take the league by storm but it hasnt happened for the lad. A bit like Marin in a way. You know the talent is there but maybe Chelsea are too big for him.

As for Guarin, if he is another Ramie then i dont really see the point. Yes we need more bodies in for the CM role but getting another player who doesnt really fit that role doesnt really make sense to me.

For several weeks now reports have linked 27-year-old Guarin with a move away from the San Siro, mainly because Inter are desperate to bring in fresh talent into their club so they are willing to cash in on one of their stars players to boost the transfer kitty.

Two clubs have been rumoured in the press as leading the chase for the Colombian international – Chelsea and Manchester United – and according to reports announced overnight on Tuesday, Chelsea are now in pole position to complete the signing.

Writing on the blog of Italian transfer guru Gianluca Di Marzio, David Amoyal have given Chelsea fans belief that they are going to buy yet another attacking midfielder.

[Chelsea] and Inter have reached an agreement for around 15 million euro plus bonuses, and at this point they are just waiting for Thohir’s blessing. It’s very unlikely Inter’s new president would veto the deal since in previous days, the Indonesian tycoon, had let it be known a sale was necessary before making a purchase. Thohir will arrive in Milano this week and will also meet with Guarin’s agent Ferreyra.

But Chelsea isn’t the only EPL club who pursued Guarin. Manchester United (who was linked to Guarin in the summer) had offered a swap of Chicarito Hernandez for Inter’s Colombian midfielder. But Inter turned it down for two reasons: they prefer cash to finance another purchase, and the Mexican striker doesn’t fit the profile of what coach Mazzarri is looking for since he is hoping to recuperate the injured Milito and Icardi.
