February 7, 201610 yr Obviously this was a freak accident but when you look at how it happened, I can't help but feel that Kurt has a technique that maybe increases the risk of this kind of mishap. I love the guys enthusiasm, his pace and his ability to beautifully time a recovering tackle, but he has got form with these somewhat rash forward dashes. Previously he's looked more to be risking the health of opposing players but there's no doubt that there's a sense of lack of control in some of what he does. Hopefully this is no more than bruising and he can continue to develop and refine his game.
February 7, 201610 yr well this confirms that it's a serious one could be a broken femur + torn acl, which is f**king terrible Edited February 7, 201610 yr by havelschayes
February 7, 201610 yr well this confirms that it's a serious one could be a broken femur + torn acl, which is f**king terrible We don't know for sure yet. Damn I hope it's not as bad as it seems. Hopefully we will know tomorrow. Keeping my fingers crossed.
February 7, 201610 yr All being said & done i think Kurt is gonna learn from this & come back an even better player....get well soon Kurt were gonna miss u....
February 7, 201610 yr Absolutely gutted for the lad. He's been a bright spot in an awful season and this would be awful for him and the club. The guy has become a fan favourite because he gives his all on the pitch and has freakish athleticism. To see him brought down by something so innocuous-looking is a sickener and I hope it's not too serious. Even if it is though, he's young and it doesn't have to have career-ending ramifications. What it would mean is his development being set back and if it is an ACL/MCL issue then it'll be a long-time (12-18 months) before he's back to his usual self. Fingers crossed the MRI doesn't reveal anything serious.
February 7, 201610 yr well this confirms that it's a serious one could be a broken femur + torn acl, which is f**king terrible I disagree. If there was a suspected break he would've left via a wheel chair. The extent of the ligament damage won't be known until the scan. The leg brace would just be to prevent further injury and keep him comfortable.

February 7, 201610 yr how long are people normally out with torn acl's? Around 6-9 months depending on the severity and then about the same to get back to his previous level.
February 7, 201610 yr Hope it's not like the Van Ginkel injury. He's never looked the same player since. Problem is that Zouma was/is our best defender and he was getting better. There's a reason he was keeping Cahill out of the side. The thought of Cahill and Terry as our centre back pairing will only play into the hands of our opponents I'm afraid.
February 7, 201610 yr Hope it's not like the Van Ginkel injury. He's never looked the same player since. Gotta disagree w/ you there - MvG is still very mobile & is showing as much - the last time I saw him play in England was vs lpuke in that that League Cup Semi at Klanfield & he looked great - he scored for PSV this weekend & helped setup a goal as well.

That's good to hear. I thought we were trying to cut our losses with him by sending him out on loan with a view to an eventual sale.

February 7, 201610 yr Hope it's one of those that ends up being 'not as bad as first feared'. Just seems typical of this season that a shocking injury is inflicted on one of our few decent performers and genuine hopes for the future
February 7, 201610 yr how long are people normally out with torn acl's? Quite a long injury normally I think. Is that not what happened to falcao that turned him from one of the worlds best in to Torres-lite? Far as the only leaving us with JT, Cahill and our recent signing from the us, pretty sure Guus would sooner move Brana back to CB that play an untested youngster there. February 7, 201610 yr The screaming when he landed was heart breaking. Good to see he's on his feet again, let's not rush him. Cahill and Ivanovic will serve as capable deputies, given where we are this season, no point rush him.
February 8, 201610 yr That was awful to watch...unfortunately, I feel like he's not going to be ready for next season. It looked like a big one 9 months - 1 year potentially. Hope I'm wrong of course...Zouma has been getting better and better and I loved that he had become a near guaranteed starter...but some injuries are really bad, and that looked like one of them. Maybe Terry can still get another contract?
February 8, 201610 yr how long are people normally out with torn acl's? An awfully long time. Usually up to a year that's with normal progress. And physical recovery is one thing but mental is a whole other topic. The rehabilitation process is a lengthy one. Just watch some of the documentaries on players who had them such as Thiago of Bayern
