I think that the international matches coming up may indeed have played a role in this.  It's not the first time we've heard of players picking up minor knocks before International games.  Half of Man U's first team always seemed to have some form of strain ahead of non significant international matches

Hopefully he is not pushing himself to play despite having a injury, like he did at the end of last season with Atletico Madrid.

That's all well and good but maybe wait for the actual announcement of an injury before everyone takes out their pitchforks and starts burning things. It was like 5 pages of nothing but hand wringing and accusatory fingers on something that MIGHT happen.

 

I agree with you that we are light and I hope we are doing what we have to do to fix that. Again, until the end of the window is there really any point in getting worked up about something?

Yes some people went off the deep end but imagine if he was out for 3 months or something.  The possibility is a horrifying prospect.  We desperately need to get rid of Torres and sign Destro, or whomever Jose wants.

If anything it just shows how much trouble we would be in if anything happened to him over the season.

We needs reinforcements badly and of course people are going to panic when several news sources say he's suffered an injury.

I was talking about this at chelseafcforums (btw site is down) if something happens to him we could be screwed. I like idea of Patrick Bamford being a back up striker but I think he will be loaned out.

Also costa will be probably missing some matches in Champions League so I hope Chelse will be able to get a back up striker in February.

Yer great idea! Bring in the lad who wasn't even being picked by derby at the end of last season to lead a team going for the premier leagues line. I'm all for giving youngsters a chance but this whole bamford thing is silly. Let the lad go out on loan and prove himself first. He hasn't shown anything yet to deserve a place in the team so chucking him in out of the blue would ruin him.

He scored 25 goals last season, 17 for mk dons in 29 starts and 8 for derby in 14 starts, how is that showing nothing to deserve a place in the team? What more could he have done exactly? No one has suggested we bring him in and play him every game. What people want (and have done for our youngsters for years now) is for them to be brought in to the team gradually and given significant enough minutes for them to actually grow as players and for us to see if they are good enough. We will never get any progress with any of our youth team if we never show any faith in them and just continue to loan them out year on year.

Experience is fine, but a little piss & vinegar goes a long way for the young lads in proving people wrong. Still agree that Bamford needs to go out on loan

Do people forget how many medicals Remy has failed? Surely he is a huge gamble regardless of price.

I want roman to totally lose the plot and get Remy, Martinez, cavani, and destro, buy Uefa and change the rules.

We will get someone in, and yes it looks like destro and Remy are the obvious options but I wouldn't rule out some deadline day lunacy... Never know what we could end up doing.

I wonder if Jose leaked the story to the media to get the point across to the board that managing on just two strikers would be impossible if Torres is sold.
