Diego Costa to Chelsea

Anyone know anything about his background / personal life (wikipedia is a bit sh*t for him).

e.g. is he a party animal / gonna be found in Soho at 3am, or is he married with kids and sensible?

He is a devout, born-again Christian and will be found passing out pamphlets near tube stations during his free time.

At the end of the day what other options were there?

He has scored a sh*t load of goals, has come off a very successful season with athletico and he has not only played vs Barca and Madrid but he has also been to the final of the champions league. He is 25, young, scoring goals and he doesnt look like he will be pushing his hair back and looking at his shoes for half the damn game. He will intimidate, hopefully he can get some quick goals and he will hit the ground running. I'm just glad we will have someone to bully the damn opposition defenders and cause a genuine threat. Without Drogba our attack has looked like a basket of kittens.

Simeone: "Diego Costa is where he wants to be and I am absolutely thrilled for him. I love Diego as a player."

Simeone: "Diego Costa behaved the whole time he was with us, so I wish him the very best at Chelsea. I hope he has a great season"

Which league has better defensive record?

A. English

B. Spanish

As of last year.

PL - 1063 conceded

La Liga 1045 conceded

So, as of last year La Liga had a better defensive record.

Whats your point again? :)

Ha ha, quality.

Maybe blessomeie was trying to suggest that Costa will score even more goals in the Premier League... But seeing as he keeps crying over this transfer I doubt it.

Well there were scored less goals on average in La Liga and the top 4 teams scored fewer goals then their english counterpart.

Ahh to late

I hope he's ready for the cold, wet nights at Stoke city and the like. It is a far cry from the beautiful warm nights of the provinces in Spain.

Yeah was pretty classy.

does Diego seems too happy to let him go?? They must have something up their sleeves.

Think he's just understanding about it.

I for one am hoping Costa starts off with a bang and bangs in 25 goals the coming season.

He knows the limitations at Atletico. They can't start paying their star players the kind of money we pay. I think admitting the limitations and playing by it is the most sensible thing they can do. Don't go calling yourself a big club when you can see the bottom of the moneybag. Of course they are a big club but not a rich one.

What would be the point if Simeone starts crying rich teams are stealing their players? That's right. No point. He is also not burning bridges.

Spot on Jackson. 100% correct. Its been a longtime since we have had a striker who can bully and intimidate opposition defenders. Hope Costa can do that for us.

Well considering he wore gloves even when it was about 20 degrees I'd suggest he isn't

Still have my reservations about Costa, hope am wrong but he looks like his weight could balloon to Shrek of the Mancs proportions should he get a taste for our world renowned cuisine.

Kerry Dixon talked about presence. Costs will have presence. The same cannot be said of Torres, Eto'o or Ba. Defenders don't look at our strike force and go, damn, this is going to be a tough match. Didier I may not have been prolific but his main job IMO was teeing up Frankie's 20 goals a season, occupying defenders and allowing the midfield to function. All our current strikers basically get ignored and defenders know as long as the cut off the supply line they are going to have an easy day.

Don't let him watch The Great British Bake Off then!
