Liverpool v Chelsea (PL) 27/04/14 KO 14:05 BST

Find it surprising that the great tacticians at scouser towers couldn't come up with a plan to break us down, they had all week to practise, saw a demo on Wednesday night when we played in the champion's league, in fact we even put in a debutant, and moved our right back to centre half just to help, and it still took an hour before the "fastest team out of the blocks" in the PL could must a shot on goal.

not having a go. your winner and you win billion trophies for years to come

Mate not having a go, but do you have a Word document open with the same 5 posts that you just copy and paste onto the forum?

Is it wrong that my cornflakes tasted better due to a close up on Sky Sports of a grown Liverpool fan by blubbing.

Not wrong at all. But not as funny as when the camera passed along a row of ashen faced ex Liverpool players.

Now the dust has settled I feel I can give a reasoned report on the game...

Firstly... Steven Gerrard... Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Oh.. *wipes away tears* i'm sorry I really thought I could write something of note... Will leave it till tomorrow... *carries on laughing*

Having got up to watch the match in the bar steward hours last night and with a continuing sense of mirth as the game wore, I was later woken up by my girlfriend early this morning who told me that I'd been chuckling in my sleep. She said she thought that football was mean to to be a serious pastime & I said oh yes, deadly serious & laughed my head off.

mind you - you have to hear what the same bloke said before the game - hilarious

It is really hilarious - "they have no pace without Hazard"  they obviously haven't seen Salah and Willian play then - you'd have thought they might know what they were like as they wanted to sign both of them!  And they had really bought into the whole - "they'll play a weakened side"  - and I think this was recorded even before the AM match so before Jose had even started putting that about!  Don't they realise that this is Mourinho and he puts out a strong side regardless?  Muppets.

Waking up this morning and watching my recording of MOTD2 I cant help but say well done to both Shearer and (gritted teeth) Lawrenson for they focussed and applauded our approach and indeed the failings of Liverpool.

The fact that the A Madrird away and Liverpool game were played in quick succession helped us rather than hinder as many of the pundits suggested it would. In effect bar the personnel we adopted the same set up and structure in both games and had I thought enough about it prior to yesterday I am pretty sure I could have worked out what our approach would be. Liverpool were given a prelude but neither their manager or players focused enough on us they in effect believed their own press.

Its interesting for when we used in effect the same game plan against Man City the vast bulk of posters on their forum were both pragmatic and respectful of the performance yet on Liverpool forum all you get is the view that their football, their presence ,their right means that the opposition are there only so they can turn them over. Some call it anti football their manager makes the stupid comment that they play football the right way. What the f**k does that mean?

I like watching a good film. A lot of people do. But what is a good film? Is it a comedy, a thriller, a blockbuster a foreign sub titled film

The fact is that it can be any or all of the above( well maybe not the sub titled ones) just as great football can be counter attacking, defensive, blood and guts all out attack. The arrogance is when someone tells you that what entertains and intrigues you is anti.

Hey we won!!!

A quick question for Brit, did you see or hear anything about trouble outside Anfield after the game?

Basically the Chelsea end spilled out of the turnstiles bouncing and singing and the Liverpool fans couldn't handle it. There were a couple of Liverpool fans swinging punches  for no other reason that they were sore losers. Chelsea fans retaliated as you would expect but it was Liverpool that started the violence from what I saw.

The key thing of note was that there was no police segregation what so ever, they didn't show up until there was a full on brawl. Shocking.

Good to see the the Mail have reported that the scenes were as a result of Chelsea fans singing about Gerrad however the Liverpool fans have since claimed it all started because a Chelsea fan spat on the Hillsborough memorial. Keep in mind that the fighting was immediately outside the away turnstiles not by the Hillsborough memorial so not quite sure how that would have worked but will let people make their own minds up on the truth of that one.

So typical of Liverpool to accept no blame and instead try and make out their fans were some kind of heroes defending the Hillsborough memorial.

Always the victims, it's never your fault.

Everywhere there are so many scouse fans spouting a load of sh*t about the way we play. Looking at rawk is laughable. Parking the bus is when you defend and make no effort of going forward, what we did was defend superbly without possession and pushed forward with possession, we had less possession, but split there defence open when we had the chance and capitalised on our opportunities, something they couldn't do. They are so bitter about it and I love seeing that.

People are at it again, of course. Enemies of football. Anti-football. Ugly football. Yada-yada-yada. Yawn.

Chelsea, once again, put in quite the shift to stop a rampant Liverpool side, at Anfield, with a big Champions League game coming up and occupying at least some part of our minds, with key players in key positions out, with Liverpool wanting this win badly to solidify pole position in their quest for a first league title in eons, etc...

Let's put aside the naivety of people who think football is only about scoring goals for a minute, and those of people who think big teams should play like big teams, and those of people who think that you should put caution to the wind, play football the right way, and take it on the chin, as it were (i.e. just open up and let Liverpool clobber you), I still think these people must think that what we did is super easy. I mean, yes, we're great at it, and we have the most meticulous coaching mind to prepare us, but it still takes a heck of a lot of will power, belief in the system, team responsibility, and a heck of a lot of running and positional awareness to do what we do. We simply don't get the appreciation we deserve. Nobody, and I mean nobody, gave us a chance in hell of stopping Liverpool on their own turf, much less stopping and them and scoring a brace to win! The words "clobber" and "rape" were used a little too liberally to describe what people though Liverpool would do to us. Look, Chelsea are still only third favorites to win the title (we need both Liverpool and City to slip up some more while we win both our matches; that is a lot to ask), but that didn't really matter so much before the match started. It was about respect. I am pleased we put Liverpool in their place. The amount of their so-called fans bleeding out of the woodwork to mock us and boast about their own chances has been enough to make you ill. I love what was said on twitter: "Jose Mourinho shows you that a team used to winning makes a bad loser, while Liverpool show you that a team used to losing makes a bad winner". That is very true, and so quite apart from this win really giving us much of a shout to win the league, I am just happy we taught those lot a lesson. Well, maybe I shouldn't expect too much, but it certainly feels good.

I think Jose Mourinho pretty much got the tactics spot on. We nullified the "quick out the gates" aspect of a rampant Liverpool side, nullified the "12th player" aspect of the "dreaded" Kop, and you could just see the frustration levels within the Liverpool ranks grow and grow - they were taking silly long-range shots because they couldn't find a way through, or were resorting to lobbing the ball into our center of defense, where Jose quite rightly described us as a fish in water dealing with those high balls. And when Stevie G showed us once again that he REALLY DID move to Chelsea all those years ago by gifting Demba Ba a goal, well, it was really looking good for us.

But back to this erroneous belief that it is easy, as if to say it is almost a foregone conclusion Chelsea would be successful in their stifling tactics when we set our stall out to defend, our players put in some amazing shifts on the day. First, let's talk about one of our players of the season. Dave simply has been awesome all season long, whether it is on the left or the right, he just never misses a beat. So much energy, so tough to beat, so much desire to scramble back and recover if an opposing player does somehow look like he's getting the better of him. It just exemplifies the sheer belief, tenacity and will to win of this club. Next, Ashley Cole; again, seemingly out in the wilderness and he just strolls back and plays like he's never been gone. Amazing. Ivanovic. Forget about beating him for headers. And his physical strength and desire to win is second to none. Nemanja Matic. Positional awareness. Ability to hound, over power, out maneuver and dispossess opposing players is fantastic. He is playing the Makalele role very, very well. But I wanted to single out, well double out, two players at opposing ends of the age spectrum: Mark Schwarzer and Tomas Kalas for special praise. Kalas was absolutely "beautiful", as Jose put it. He never looked out of place, and he put in some really good, fair and non-compromising tackles to stop the Liverpool forwards in their tracks. What a prospect. Schwarzer also looked solid on the day - maybe one weak punch out if we're being picky - but as solid as you like for a reserve keeper. Two players who could be looked upon as weak chinks in our armor, but who contributed greatly to a sound defensive showing.

Further up the pitch was all about running and providing outlet channels, which Schurrle, Salah, Ba, and later on Willian and Torres did ever so well. We were going to be put under pressure, no question about it, and while we were defending solidly, from time to time we needed to keep the Liverpool defense honest and allow our defense a breather. I thought Ba had an immense performance for us. Was able to win headers regularly, be an overall nuisance for the Liverpool back line, and took his chance ever so well. Everyone just really worked hard for a common cause, it was just delightful to watch.

A Liverpool fan had the gaul to suggest Torres elected to pass to Willian rather than to score the killer second goal against his old club. OK, whatever. I'm more apt to believe that he didn't want to do the more risky thing in taking the shot when Willian was absolutely wide open. What good would it do for him not to score anyway? By Willian scoring rather than Torres, did Liverpool somehow not conceded a second to kill the game? Of course not. So in actual fact, Torres chose the smart option to make sure he didn't make a mistake, thereby absolutely killing Liverpool's chances of getting a late equalizer. Grasping at straws, that lot, and not a small amount of vain-ness to think they have any importance to Nando.

Lastly, what can you say about Jose Mourinho that hasn't already been said. Best Chelsea manager ever, at least in my honest opinion. Gives us hope where nobody else gives us any. Helping us win matches we supposedly have not business doing so. Protecting our image. Wearing his passion on his sleeve. Thinking and acting like a fan. I would not have it any different. Who cares what the world thinks of us. We'll just keep stepping on toes en route to the finish line.

Cheers,

Butch

Always the victims, it's never your fault.

Never were truer words spoken.

And it gets worse. Having realised that accusations of spitting on the Hillsborough Memorial won't work even for the Daily Mail, these self-righteous, oh so precious Scousers have managed to take their victim mentality to new heights are now trying to say that Chelsea fans singing "Oh Steven Gerard, you've done it again" were singing "Oh Steven Gerrard, your cousin is dead".

I have to ask, what the f**k is wrong with those people? And try as I might, all I can come up with is that it's the same old blame old culture that's been associated with Liverpool FC for as long as I can remember, the same culture that prompted John Smith into attempting to blame Chelsea and Millwall fans for Heysel.

f**k 'em. I mean, seriously, f**k 'em.

someone mentioned earlier that Liverpool had fallen for their own hype and no-one is more guilty of that than Rodgers...as I said last night, for a club that supposedly has 'class' his post match comments were a disgrace...the scouse disease has really got into his veins and it's hard to believe he ever spent time with us now, learning his trade...so disrespectful...didn't seem to have a problem with Chelsea's tactics when he was part of the staff...really hope he does blow the league and it all goes tits up for him next season when he has no excuses and has to challenge for more than one trophy

I wish someone had reminded Brendan that his Swansea side didn't exactly thrill the watching public with their scintillating football, and someone should tell him his new teeth make him look like Alistair Sim, in the Lady killers...

To the gobby, Indian 'biker-dude-wannabe' scouse fan that I encountered last week (over 200 miles from Liverpool) in Screwfix, who got cocky with me because I was wearing my Chelsea shirt and told me "we're gona do you on Sunday, init" - how do those words taste now? Probably a bit like burnt plastic! Now you see why I kept calm and didn't bite - in José I trust, A-hole!

All the mind games in the build-up worked - saying he was going to field a weakened team, saying we weren't in the title race any more, acting like he'd given up and din't care, even the mysterious sickness he 'suffered' that made him look weak... The scousers lapped it up, thought they could smell blood and went in feeling cocky and over-confident - and look how they capitulated! Even with Kalas and Schwarzer in the line-up, that team was still better than the first eleven of most Premiership sides and the master tactician went to Anfield knowing that all he needed to do was park the bus and hit on the counter to WIN, because the more frustrated and desperate the scousers got, the more they would throw caution to the wind and it worked a treat! José always went there to nick a 1-0 and the Gerrard error that led to the other, unplanned goal made it all the more sweeter!

Brendan Rodgers and his team of dirty red Bodgers! :face_palm:  HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

HA!
