Agree with Undertow.  No way he goes to City uncontested.

However, if City do get him, that's a huge step up for their squad and it strengthens Jose's comments about "next season, our opposition will be stronger"

Am I missing something with Ings? Other than been a 22 year old Englishman I really don't see the fuss about him.

I mean is he really as good as they think he us or is he just another one that people are hoping is good cause he's English?

I think the same about Pogba. I don't really see what makes him so amazing really. I am yet to see him have a brilliant game.

26 goals in the Championship last season, 11 in the Premier League this season in a struggling team and he's 22 and English.

Put it like this - what's the minimum you'd accept for Bamford? I wouldn't go below £12 million and more realistically I'd be looking at £15 million, and he only scored 17 goals last season. Any team not in the top four should be looking at that guy.

Heysel was 30 years ago today. Not a great fan of Juventus but thoughts will be with them today and I hope they win the Champions League Final. Would be a great tribute.

Seems to be somewhat ignored though, partly due to the FIFA scandal but also because it doesn't fit in with a certain club's narrative. 39 fans died, were killed on that day but the number 14 might be important too. That was the number of Liverpool supporters charged and convicted of manslaughter. An abhorrent day for football supporters but this wasn't just a tragedy...it was a crime.

Believe it or not (due to lack of coverage), 30 years ago sport witnessed one of its worst acts of hooliganism which resulted in the death of 39 people at a football match. Rarely mentioned on these shores unfortunately, gets by far the least amount of coverage compared to Hillsborough and the Bradford City fire. Perhaps (to anticipate Blue Daze's response) because the victims weren’t English (although I appreciate there were a handful of Liverpool supporters who perished) and there has never been this big inquiry into establishing the truth like there has been Hillsborough. But still criminally the day passes by without so much of a whimper and considering it’s considered one of English football’s darkest days, we should never forget.

Although it’s not as widely publicised the press still have articles about it year after year, hopefully it ensure the fans of today are educated and reminded what can happen should you carry out acts of violence. RAWK do have a thread on it where the majority admit their fans were the main culprits but again the state of the stadium, how the tickers were allocated and policing were mentioned as the main cause, I’m afraid if barriers aren’t broken and fans forced to flee through dear of their lives then a dilapidated stadium wouldn’t collapse and the segregation wouldn’t have been an issue. But I wasn’t there, I can’t imagine the horrors. For those of you who did witness it on TV, see the press coverage after… what are your thoughts? I’ve also read that UEFA denied both clubs an investigation into the matter? I’m pretty sure any tragedy that results in deaths should be looked into with the upmost importance.

I’m not one of these people who think teams/players deserve to win something purely to mark an occasion but Juventus winning the Champions League would perhaps result in more publicity and those who died 30 years ago and commemorate their memory.

Bloody hell, wasn't expecting that sort of opinion from you (I posted my post before seeing this).

I think it's ignored for a number of reasons. Liverpool certainty weren't the only club to have utter scum in their ranks in the 80s, nor was this the only incident of it's type. But I think everyone knows broadly speaking what happened that day, who were the perpetrators and why it happened.

Liverpool's great crime at the time was to ignore it and when they did acknowledge it, try to blame other people. That included not just Southerners, but specifically Chelsea supporters. Then there's the blaming of the stadium which is somewhat valid, because it was very rundown. But if you don't attack another group of supporters by crossing into their area then it doesn't become the deathtrap that it was. There's also been other things brought up and dismissed on that day (like the songs about Munich).

When it comes to the media reporting of it today, I think many will be happy that Blatter is hogging the headlines because there doesn't seem to be a desire to talk about it on Merseyside in the same way they talk about other things. That to me is a little unsavoury.

Liverpool have had their laughable £10m bid rejected by Southampton for Nathaniel Clyne.

What were they thinking?

They probably assumed that because they overspent by £20 million when they bought Lovren and Lallana that they might get a discount on Clyne....because #scouselogic.

Although he only has one year left on his contract....interesting. £15 million might actually get him (although it's obligatory to point out that it's more than double what we spent on Dave).

Once again it shakes me to my inner most core that I agree with you. My initial post on the subject (where I too mention about the stadium's condition wouldn't have mattered if fans are fleeing for their lives) was more of a diplomatic post, I don't want to make cheap shots against any club using deaths of people as a reason... but I agree. They've got away with an act that I feel any other club, English or otherwise, would not get away with. I can't believe I've read opinions that they're not to blame and it's the fault of what I've already detailed. They're never ashamed of anything but the lack of recognition of the incident is abhorrent, especially as they lost lives too, albeit not as many. I wish they were pulled up on it, but they won't be.

Yes but Dave is the bargain/signing of the century! Who signed him, was it the FSW?

Yeah I'm guessing 'Pool will try and bid again, since Glen Johnson is off. But why on earth would Clyne want to go there is anyone's guess, they're 11 new players away from winning anything.

No it was Robbie, although I doubt he had anything to do with it. Amazing bargain.

If I was Clyne I'd wait for Spurs or someone better to come in for me, or stay at Saints. Playing for Brendan means he's as likely to play left-wing as right-back.

I wouldn't go below that for Bamford either.

But my position in Ings isn't anything to do with that £12 mil bid that is clearly a bluff bid so they an talk to him early (the compensation will likely be in the £7-8 million range) it's just when I've watched him I haven't been impressed with him. I just don't know what others are seeing in him, were he not English I don't think there'd be a fuss been made personally.
