No. It's a really long season, if either Cahill, Terry, Ivanovic or Dave pick up injuries or suspensions then he'll slot it automatically. He'll get plenty of game time, but Dave has yet to put a single toenail wrong, and brana has been a lethal attacking force this season, so there's no reason to drop either of them

Brana has been woeful defensively.  I think it's a pretty good reason to drop him, considering Luis is pretty good in attack too.

Lots of football left to play yet.

Personally I think he's going to get his chance soon, especially if he impresses again on Wednesday night.

We are leaking too many goals for Jose to be happy with the back four and Luis is the obvious person to come in.

Azpilicueta didn't play much in the early weeks of last season, but when he got his chance he took it. Luis will have to do the same. Over the course of the season he'll get plenty chances to play.

Look at Azpilicueta last season, he didn't get a game until the league cup 3rd round. When he got that game he took full advantage and hasn't been dropped since. Luis will have to do something similar.

I recall a thread called 'Where's Dave' early last season. I think we all know how that turned out.

I know how good Dave is being defensively but this guy is also pretty good I mean really good defensively plus he offers far far more in attack than Dave.

Because of Dave we are bit handicapped on the left side and all the pressure is on Hazard. We seriously got to start this guy over Dave at LB and shift Dave with Ivanovic. Filipe Luis was f**king awesome against Schalke at attacks his crossing is f**king good. I seriously think he needs a go at LB now.

He admitted himself on Chelsea tv that he had a slight injury in pre season and wasn't 100% at the start of the season. Sure he will play more now he is fully fit.

Excellent player. I have no worries over him.

Still think we should play Azpi at RB and Luis at LB and use Ivan more as a CB and sometimes RB depending on opposition like Stoke West Ham away etc.

We've had a single midweek game so far this season and he started in it, quite clearly he is going to get his fair share of games.

I kind of agree with you both, but got to remember that Azpilicueta was not a Mourinho signing - Luis is.

 

Still maintain that playing Azpilicueta on the right and Luis on the left would add even more balance to the side, especially going forward. Ivanovic has been brilliant going forward this season but defensively he has been questionable - although so have the defence in general!

Good that we have plenty of quality options anyway! Jose will get it more efficient as the season progresses.

I have a feeling when he’s given a fair shot of the LB role he will make it his own and I think Azpi will go back to his preferred right hand side. For the tougher games where we sit back no doubt Ivan will be drafted back in.

Luis has a fantastic cross (much better than both Ivan and Azpi) while he gets up and down really well.

Ivanovic is among top players of the league and so is Azpi on his position. Luis will get CL games as well as other cup games. Jose will slowly integrate him to Prem as well.

I like the guy...I like the way he plays, his extra threat going forward and now he's getting match fit, he provides balance to back four...he should play more in my opinion and brana needs to remember he is a defender first and foremost...anyway, Luis has given a good interview and I really like his attitude

Good attitude to have, he's impressed me on his two starts so far. Personally I think he will be first choice by Christmas.

I think having him in the side depends who we're playing against, I would prefer Azpi and Ivanovic against more physical opposition like last weekend. Attacking wise he is great, lovely crosser of the ball with his left peg so hopefully see more of those balls going into Costa territory!
